The statue of Duke Wellington on horseback was sculpted by Joseph Boehm. This equestrian statue of 1887 shows the Duke, mounted on his horse Copenhagen and it stands opposite Aspley House, at one time the Duke’s London residence and now the home of the Wellington Museum. The plinth is made from red granite and stands about ten feet (three metres)... More

We found this statue near the Wellington Arch. It is a large statue that is very detailed. This is located in a corner of Hyde Park and is a nice area to visit.

Located in the beautiful Hyde Park Corner, along with many other nice statues and monunents, the Duke of Wellington Statue is maybe the most famous one, along with the Arch and is really an example of representing a British hero.

This memorial for the Duke of Wellington should really be the highlight of Hyde Park corner however the other monunents, memorials and statues here overshadow this wonderful poece of art. The duke of Wellington was one of the leading military and political figures of 19th-century Britain, the vanquisher of Napoléon. This is a beautiful bronze statue of this hero that... More

If you go into Wellington Arch, you can learn more about the Duke of Wellington's influence in this part of London, with the arch itself, Apsley House and this statue. There was a statue of the Duke on top of the arch before the current monument was put up there. I'm not sure if this is the same one but... More

The statue is located on the Hyde Park Corner, close to the Wellington triumphal arch and Apsley House, and is one of numerous tributes to this great military commander and statesman. It is a bronze equestrian sculpture surrounded by four bronze soldiers.

Nice statue to the Duke of Wellington. In Glasgow a similar statue permanently wears an orange traffic cone on his head. Nice to see this statue without one.

We had taken and long and enjoyable walk from Paddington, through Kensington Gardens and then on to Hyde Park. Eventually, we ended up at Hyde Park Corner. Across the very busy road we caught sight of Wellington Arch and decided to go across and take a closer look at it. After admiring the arch, we came across the Duke of... More
