Top ways to experience Green Park
The area
Neighbourhood: Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.

Great place to chill and relax. At the same time it's a great walk through between The Mall and Picadilly areas.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 29 November 2023

Take time to look at the adjacent war memorials.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 May 2024
- JSSAmberCambridge, United Kingdom684 contributionsAn easy park to overlook and even easier to wander in happilyThis park has better tree cover than most big urban parks, and there are enough intersecting paths that you can really pick your own way through, seeing different things each time. There aren't flowers in the park (despite the photo TA has put up, which is actually a photo of Buckingham Palace gardens), so it feels very easy to walk around without disturbing anything. Free entrance.Visited September 2024Travelled with familyWritten 2 September 2024

One of London's eight 'Royal Parks' Green Park is a 40 acre natural park that delivers some peace and tranquility close to Buckingham Palace and the bustle of Piccadilly. The park consists of paths, benches, mature trees and lawns. There are no formal flowerbeds in the park as rumour has it that in the 17th century King Charles II's wife demanded all the flowers be removed from Green Park after she caught him picking flowers there for another woman. Flowerbeds aside in the Spring the estimated one million daffodil bulbs blanket the park in yellow. The closest London Underground Stations to Green Park are either "Green Park" (on the Jubilee, Victoria and Piccadilly Lines) or "Hyde Park Corner" (on the Piccadilly Line). Park is open everyday from 5am until midnight and there is no entrance fee.

If you like to go to London but not looking for the frenetic people and cars Greenwich is super cool and peaceful area to visit. For summer I can see this place full of picnics and people with their pets. I would advice even a cruise around the Thames river. Around this park you also get to see the maritime museum and queen house for free. The is the royal observatory on the top of the park but the entry is £16 and the planetarium costs around £8.
Great place to come with your partner or with family.

Living up to its name, Green Park is the most natural of the Royal Parks, with broad avenues of trees and large areas of grass. You can tell when summer has arrived by the appearance of the deckchairs.
For me it is a enjoyable and relaxing route from Piccadilly down to Buckingham Palace and on to Victoria, with a cafe and the Diana of the Treetops Fountain at the Piccadilly entrance and the Canadian gates and memorial, the latter designed by Pierre Granche, at the south end. Further west is the RAF Bomber Command Memorial.

We walked through St James park and on to Green Park. The park had quite a few people enjoying themselves. Opposite Buckingham Palace there were a large quantity of wooden elephant sculptures which looked as if they were about to be installed as an exhibit!

We came trough the park on a rather warm and dry day in January when we left Buckingham Palace and were heading to the underground station - Green Park. It is a short pleasant walk amongst beautiful old trees on wide avenues. We entered the park near the impressive Canada Gates but, did not visit any memorials in the park.

Massive park easy to access via tube and Buckingham Palace.
They had an exhibition of amazing herd of elephants made out of wood.
It was fabulous to see three different herds of these magnificent sculptures.

A Lovely, But Short Stroll This Time
We were back in London, and finally not on business, in September. We spent some time in Green Park, but mostly where it, and Hyde Park join - a place with myriad monuments and memorials. When we had explored (for probably the fourth time) that area, we did a short stroll, on the path, parallel to the busy Piccadilly. Unless we have something to do/see on Piccadilly, we usually walk this path in the park. On this day, we only walked as far as the crossing into Mayfair, on Piccadilly, and the park was lovely. Being a weekday, and late morning, Green Park was not filled, as it usually is, on a lovely day, but there were still people out, enjoying the Autumn sunshine.
On many visits, we walk most of Green Park, but not on this trip. As we will be back twice more this year, we plan to do our normal exploration of this lovely Park, right on the edge of Mayfair.

Of all the parks we've seen in London, Green park is perhaps the least awesome. The best attraction is that it has undulating walkways, they give a rolling hills effect, great. The Canada gate is pretty as well. Beyond that, large trees, seems way less well maintained, and lacking the flowers that abound other parks. You can safely skip it and not miss much. Hope over to Hyde that is a few mins walk away, or Regent is fabulous.

I last visited during the period of mourning for Queen Elizabeth 2 when the whole park was fenced off with very limited places to enter and exit the park. Once in (it took quite a while to find an entrance) I was able to visit the area where you were able to lay flowers. In the early evening the park was not busy, and the flowers were a sight to be seen

Walked through the park a couple of times. The first was going through the park to get to Buckingham Palace, and the other was when we were heading out from Hyde Park. In both cases, we were catching a bus on Picadilly, which runs along one side of the park.
The park is very large and spacious. There are quite a few paths leading in all directions. We were there after it rained so the grass wasn't very good to walk on but the paths were still alright, albeit a few puddles along the way. One of the paths led to the Canada gate of Buckingham Palace. It was a nice park with plenty of grassy areas.
