2 hours well spent if you're into art, history and learning from a knowledgeable guy (Kia) with a sense of humour. I'm a Londoner and would thoroughly recommend this walking tour of the areas around brick lane. It opened my eyes to a sub culture I never knew was so diverse and expressive. So, i you want a SHOCK 1,... More

My girlfriend and I decided to go for the early afternoon tour with our guide Josh, a street artist with incredible knowledge of East London and the street artists who left a mark there. Even though we were familiar with the area, Josh gave us plenty of interesting information about its history. Highlight of the tour: the nomadic community gardens,... More

My husband and I went on the street art tour on Feb 18th with our guide Josh. Josh is a street artist himself and gave us both an insight into a world of art we are not familiar with. Josh also gave us some interesting history of the area. It was great doing a tour of an area I am... More

Walking art tour :) One of the best tours I've ever done! Our tour guide Kea was amazing, encouraging us to ask questions and had answers every single time. He blended art, history & local knowledge perfectly over our 2 hour tour. This is a must do if you're coming to London!!

My daughter is currently studying GCSE Art and is doing a project on 'the city'. Living in a rural area I agreed to take her to London to photograph some tall buildings and to try and find some graffiti. By chance when researching on line I came across the 'Alternative London' walking tour which includes graffiti viewing. I admit to... More

It was such an interesting and informative tour! Lilly, our tour guide, gave us insight on the history of the East London area as well of its street art and graffiti. I recommend this to everyone and believe it needs to be on everyone's check list here in London!

Whilst predominantly focusing on the street art, itself incredibly interesting, Alternative London also offers people a chance to learn about the changing cultural, economic and socio-political aspects of the Shoreditch area. Our guide was Doug, who was very knowledgeable, passionate about what he does and impressively kept the mood upbeat to stave off a seriously cold afternooon! As others have... More

In a cold and windy February afternoon Doug gave us the opportunity to visit a different London, really fascinating, a great alternative to the standard city tours. No booking fee, no fixed price, you pay for what he deserves. Very nice experience. Franco from Italy

Staying in Spitalfields

Neighbourhood Profile
Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
