Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had to buy tickets again from the real box office to see the Les Miserables” we loved the play but problem is my experience with the third party ticket company, London Theater Direct, was terrible. The night of our show I realized that I had made a mistake and bought the tickets for upcoming week and I went to the box office. The manager said they had plenty of evening tickets still available but the LTD would need to call to exchange since that is where I had purchased the tickets. After 3 calls on hold for 30 min then dropped and 3 emails, never heard a response from them. We had to buy tickets again from the box office to see the show (which was much cheaper then the third party company) I lost my money! So moral of the story is buy from box office direct in case you need to make any changes!

The show (Book of Mormon) was great but my experience with the third party ticket company, London Theater Direct, was terrible. The day before our show I realized that I had made a mistake in the ticket (bought matinee vs evening) and I went to the box office. Nice walk around theatre land streets with a walk I had downloaded, which gave insights into what names of streets mean, reasons for things being where they are and other interesting snippets that wouldn't be obvious from just a wander around without background info. Lots to see within a fairly small radius, with a lot of old traditional places as well as some newer and funky artworks, etc which we just came across by chance. Good way to spend a half day in London. Would upload some photos but TA doesn't seem to be uploading at the moment?

I’ve seen the Phantom of the Opera four times, but the understudy who performed as the Phantom is London was the best Phantom I have seen. He was absolutely fabulous. The musical was superb. Theaters are much smaller than in the US so seats are usually pretty good and you are closer to the stage even from back row seats. It’s a must see!

London's theatre district and arguably the best in the world with a slight edge over New York's Broadway in my opinion. The West End is made up by Covent Garden, Leicester Square and Soho. You should include seeing a West End show during any visit to London. Two of my favorite theatres are Her Majesty Theatre and The Prince of Wales Theatre. Also, great area to grab a pre or post theatre meal.

New musical and now one of my favourites. From start to finish, if I could give this 10 stars I would. The music the dancing the stage and the choreographer was second to done. I’ve never seen a standing ovation from everyone in the theatre . Well done to everyone involved in the making of a wonderful story.

We wandered around the West End and enjoyed the livelihood of the area. The atmosphere was great and the theatres beautiful. We went to see “Jersey Boys” in Trafalgar Theatre which was a 5/5 ! One of the best musicals I’ve seen. I strongly recommend it !

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in two parts: terrific production. The West End Theatre District is crowded, but manageable. Travel by Underground or bus - fairly easy. Get an Oyster Card at the first tube station you visit, and mind the zones you’ll be visiting. Most importantly, download the “TfL Go” app to navigate London’s public transit system. We stayed in the Kensington area, west of the theaters, and had only a three-block walk to the nearest Tube station.

We have seen many West End shows, but this stands out as one of the best.
Entertaining from start to finish.
I had not seen the movie or knew much about the storyline, so I was amazed how good it really was.

So much to see, so many restaurants to choose from, cafes & bakerys. Market stalls, quirky stores, street performances. This place has it all and it’s easy to navigate. Theatres are beautiful inside too, which is a must do! Just be careful of pick pockets

Is the lyceum theatre strict on entry times? I have heard that you have to arrive at least 1 hour prior. Is this true?

Best non chain restaurant at reasonable prices near Apollo theatre with outdoor seating or nice ambiance inside. Thanks!

Lots of places to eat in Covent Garden.

Depends on what what you want and which theater you are going to. For a theater restaurant experience Joe Allen's always works. Bit of a cliche but what the hell

What is a reputable website to buy London theater tickets?
Written 8 February 2019
I always buy straight from the show’s website. Some use Ticketmaster, but there are other apps as well. Visit the website of the show you want to attend.

Hi
Im staying in ealing Broadway for the weekend and going to see a show in the west end.
I've been looking at tube from ealing to west end.is it v easiest/best to get no changes and get off at Tottenham court road?
Any help be appreciated
Thanks

It depends on which theatre you will be attending, we went to the Aldwich, which is near Convent Garden or Aldwich stops, but you would find that most of it is walkable even if you get a wrong stop. Hope this is helpful.

Seeing a show in April. My hotel is not close so in the early evening I’ll take the tube to the theatre but at the end it will be dark and feel unsafe walking from the tube station to my hotel by myself. My question is are there black cabs available after the show? Thank you for any advice.
Written 23 February 2018
Whilst cabs are easily available London is a safe city and walking around even late at night is not a problem. I accept there are isolated incidents but these are very rare. Street crime generally in the UK is uncommon.

Not many theaters where i live, but as an American planning a trip to London, I understand that going to the theatre is a must to experience what it truly is like to be a Londoner. For the purpose of planning an itinerary, how much time should i set aside for a performance? I understand that times may vary for different plays, but maybe an estimate would help me? Thank you, and i look forward to visiting your beautiful city.
Written 6 February 2017
I would set aside 3 hours - evening shows do have an interval of about 20 minutes in which time drinks are served. Certainly some great shows on in London at the moment. Enjoy and safe journey ...
