Couldn't wait to get to Bermondsey Antique market. Not what I expected. There were some antiques, but a whole lot of vintage items. Lots of silver flatware, lots of tea cups and china. The jewelry was a huge disappointment. Mainly vintage costume jewelry. Some gems, silver, and gold, but very little. Even had cheap Indian and African stuff. Very little... More

Bermondsey is a Friday market. It used to be a huge market with many dealers and customers coming from far and wide. However, we were very disappointed to find that it's now only in a small square with a vastly reduced number of stalls. There were a few good antiques dealers but overall the market was a disappointment.

Although this market is now but a shadow of its former self, it is one of the only places where you can still come and find a true bargain. Whilst one had to arrive at 4am with a torch back in the "old days" nowadays come at a leisurely 8am and enjoy the few antiques dealers who still show up... More

I did the Bermondsey Beer Mile and the Market one glorious Saturday in early May. We went for the craft brew, we stayed for the good eats. I had the crab mac and cheese grilled cheese, and it was as good (and decadent) as it sounds, but it sopped up the beer and allowed me to continue into the afternoon.... More

Only a leisure ten minute walk from London Bridge tube station is the little treasure of Bermondsey Market. Cocooned amongst some private flats and Hotels with Restaurants it reminds me a a a nice medieval enclosed space with old cobblestones. Opens on Friday morning with some forty stalls well stocked with antiques and curiosities,it is worth a visit to browse... More

We found some treasures at this little antique market. It is just the right size to do in 1-2 hours.

Although we only walked through the market on our way to another attraction, I will definitely be revisiting. The sights and smells of the 100+ stalls was very tempting

Bermondsey market has an antique market and it's got a few interesting items. On Saturdays it also has a food market which has some delicious food and is certainly less busy than borough market. You can pick up some nice bread, meat and veg.

Although it was bitterly cold, the market was well stocked. Loved the eclectic mix of things for sale. Stall holders great fun. Good coffee and bacon sandwich stall courtesy of lovely costa ricons. Highly recommend

Came here on a Saturday and the place was buzzing with locals. The vibe was good, there was plenty of food and drink on offer from the various stalls, local food and drinking places underneath the old railway arches. Nice antiques shops in the area.

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
