The area
Neighbourhood: St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.

Piccadilly circus was very popular lots of people around, there was a street artist doing some sort of performance. I didn't get to near because of all the people. - laneyislay148 contributionsNothing significant to see or doThere's nothing significant to see or do here really. I wanted to go and experience it but you could just pass through it really. I've been there, done that now. It wasn't as busy as I had expected. There were street performers, a statue and ad boards but that’s about it. Worth a pass through if you're interested.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 13 April 2024
- Daniele64Genoa, Italy2,255 contributionsThe center of central London.....Very central, small square characterized by a beautiful Victorian fountain representing Eros and large colored screens on which advertising films frantically scroll. A minor Times Square, more or less. In the evening the lights and colors make it somewhat of a center of nightlife, with frequent street artists and musicians who organize flah mobs and happenings to make people dance. Obviously lots of places in the surrounding streets (pubs, restaurants, theatres, various shops...).Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 21 April 2024
- Mauro CLavello, Italy2 contributionsLovely experience in Piccadilly CircusPiccadilly Circus is an incredible place that truly captures the vibrant spirit of London. Its pulsating energy, with the bright neon signs and the constant flow of people, is simply fascinating. I spent a wonderful time exploring the shops, enjoying delicious meals in the surrounding restaurants and admiring the iconic architecture of the surroundings. It's a perfect place to immerse yourself in culture, shop and create unforgettable memories. I highly recommend anyone visiting London to stop by Piccadilly Circus for a truly unique and immersive experience.Visited June 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 10 May 2024
- WorldGluttonLondon, United Kingdom24,763 contributionsWorth the visit !!!We took a cab from our Hotel in Bayswater, dropped down near Piccadilly. Had a casual walk through streets full of restaurants, ancient monuments , pubs, theatres, mixture of shops from watches to fashions , handbags, shoes & souvenirs and entertainment venues . At the centre of Piccadilly Circus is the Bronze fountain topped by a figure of a winged archer. Here a busker is seen serenating , unforturnately its abit too early thus not much crowd . It is a wealthy shopping district surrounded with streets of beautiful buildings. It is a great place for shoppers or just window shopping as well as lots of photography opportunities for those who loves to take pictures. You would never be bored. !! Worth the visit !!Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 15 May 2024
- zuvBucharest, Romania40,329 contributionsJust a squareA fairly large square, surrounded by old buildings, with beautiful architecture. Of course, the multimedia facade should also be mentioned. In addition, there is also an artesian well (without water...), beautifully restored. That's about it. A lot of lookie-loos, but nothing important to see.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 June 2024
- SydnTooli764 contributionsMuch to see and do hereMuch to see and do meandering around Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square and Covent Garden areas. Restaurants to suit all ages and tastes. Enough to keep the most recalcitrant child (and adult) amused. Highly recommended. No agenda, just wander with observant eyes.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 June 2024
- Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada9,277 contributionsBusy, Touristy and Full of Good RestaurantsThe Piccadilly Circus area is very overwhelming but easy to navigate. There are many popular brands for restaurants here as well as souvenir shop opportunities. There was a decent amount of construction when we visited in June 2024. There are street performers who are in the area, statues to appreciate and signage for pickpockets so be mindful while in the area. It is very touristy but if you find yourself going to a theatre show you could find a good restaurant in this area. The closest metro is Piccadilly Circus and it is very walkable after that.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 June 2024

I crossed this roundabout with my girlfriend during a holiday in London. It is one of the most famous places in the English capital. The large curved advertising screens that surround the building are one of the symbols of the city. Vehicle traffic and the influx of pedestrians are always high and confusing. During the Christmas holidays you can witness beautiful lights that extend along all the streets that converge in this place.

A center for tourism and pictures. But definitely worth seeing if you have the roads past. Above all, it is very nice in the evening when everything lights up. Avoid restaurants and some shops in the area as it is a classic tourist trap most often. But if you want to take some nice pictures and look around, there are many places nearby for shopping. Depending on the time, a lot of people and street artists gather.

We visited the Soho area, arrived at Piccadilly Circus and then continued to China Town. You can do everything on foot, it takes a few hours if you stop and get lost in some small street that is not marked on the classic route, but we are in London and we have to enjoy it. You can see a large concentration of traffic, since it is a central area close to busy streets where people shop or look for entertainment venues. Meeting point and an important tourist attraction. Imposing advertising posters, the Fountain of Eros and notable buildings complete the spectacle. You have to stop for a while and just look at the madness that is happening around you.

Nice for a walk. Extensive shopping street with cool shops: M&M, Lego, Hamleys, Harry Potter pub…
In the evening several street artists that you can watch. Not the same as NYC, but cool to see.

Piccadilly Circus is the most popular tourist spot in the heart of London.
The statue of Eros (Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain) is a popular meeting point.
The iconic advertising screens look stunning. You got a little bit of feeling like being in New York Times Square.
The square is close to important leisure and shopping areas.

Piccadilly Circus is well worth a visit during nighttime hours. It’s bright, vibrant and full of energy. The ‘Circus’ roundabout is obviously not so congested as perhaps it is at other times of the day (and year, given COVID-19 issues right now) but the huge illuminated signs, nearby Soho and Leicester Square are all reasons why you should explore the area. It’s teeming with places to visit at all hours.

The most happening place at the heart of London. There is always live music and performing arts. This is the junction of 6 streets and always thronging with crowd. Simply sitting by the fountain and watching the hustle and bustle..... time will fly.
No visitor in London should miss this.

On my visit to London, my family spent a bit of time around Picadilly Circus. Picadilly Circus is a fun and busy area in London, it's a kinda reminds me of Time Square in NYC. It use be a neighborhood, where the aristocracy and gentry resided during the 15th & 16th century. Now there are many shops, markets, and restaurants nearby. it's a place were folks lounge around, some get meals and sit around the statutes and fountain, and enjoy there time. At night time the lighted signs (digital signs) really shine through, illuminating the night. Picadilly is great place to meet up with friends and make plans. This one of the places you have to visit when exploring London.

We also walked around Piccadilly Circus, a road junction and public space where many people gather on the steps of the fountain and statue. There were street musicians performing and adding song and music to the atmosphere.
The Circus is particularly known for its video display and neon signs mounted on the corner building on the northern side, as well as the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain and statue, which is popularly, though mistakenly, believed to be of Eros.

Mostly because it's so famous as a starting point to meet or get around in the Westend of London. Although there's plenty of shops in the area, it's more of a place to hang out. Vest time to visit is later when all the lights are on and the billboards are flashing their advertisements.

Hi! I’m planning to use the public transport from Heathrow airport to Piccadilly station. Can someone tell me how long the escalators will be at these two locations? Super long escalators scare the hell out of me though I’m okay with most airport escalators.

Does Piccadilly Circus station has escalators from Bakerloo Line platform to Piccadilly Line platform?
I am coming from Embankment station and would like to change train at Piccadilly Line to Heathrow Airport, and I have a luggage with me.
Does the Piccadilly Circus station morning crowd at 7.30am too crazy to move around with luggage?

There are no lifts at Piccadilly Circus station, just escalators and about 40 steps up in total from train platform to ticket hall and street level.
If you are travelling from Heathrow, take the Piccadilly line to Green Park, where there is an escalator from the train platform to the ticket hall and a lift from the ticket hall to street level.
