Not what it used to be I'm afraid. Lots and lots of market traders all selling the same poor quality stuff - row upon row of it. You wonder how anyone makes a living selling the same thing. But if you've never been then I guess you have to go and find out for yourself. Spitalfields market is much better... More

This iconic market is absolutely dire!!! A real shame. Don't bother seriously not worth it. Full of old tat, no atmosphere, not at all what we had expected. Completely open to the elements. Nothing worth going to see at all.

What a disappointment Petticoat Lane Market is. Its basically a very poor quality open air jumble sale. It has no redeeming factors at all.

My wife & myself had a really good day here looking round the antique shops & stalls (Saturdays) I was glad we traveled to London by train or I'm sure we would have bought a lot more.

The market is the best place to go if you are looking to buy clothes. Along side new goods you will find vintage clothes as well. One off designs that nobody else has. Good quality and prices as well. From petticoat lane you can go on to Brick lane market and shoreditch market. Best day to go is Sunday.

Good to see real life "east end" market, the famous Petticoat Lane. All the normal stalls you would expect, worth an hour or so to see a real side of London. Plenty to see and so, some great characters about. Lots of food stalls to grab a bite.

A lot of people/visitors. A lot of things from food to Clothes. Good bargain. Sellers are attentive and good communications. Clean environment.

This was a place we always visited when I was a child and it is probably 40 years since I last went. Its much smaller than I remember but my husband and I enjoyed the stroll up and down looking at some of the stalls which have unbelievably low prices. There was a typical East End feel with some real... More

This is a classic low-end London market, but the offerings of cheap clothes and the like did not appeal to us. We were much happier in nearby Brick Lane which offered a broader mix of wares (many more upscale) without the low end clothng, shoes, etc. And it's not a great place for a cold winter's day. Your objectives and... More

Staying in Whitechapel

Neighbourhood Profile
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.
