Greenwich is a cool section of London with lots of nice pubs and restaurants. There are also some nice maritime attractions such as the museum and Queen's House.

We went to Greenwich from Westminster Pier by boat, which is probably the loveliest way to get there; we passed by just about all the sights of central London before we docked outside town, in a village that is a most engaging mix of gardens...More

You could get the bus to the North Greenwich Penninsula Train Stn and then get the Jubilee Line through to Green Park then change platforms at Green Park to Heathrow.
