We thoroughly enjoyed this great walk with Ike, who was both entertaining and really knowledgeable with lots of detailed info to share. It was good to get a "below the surface" understanding of the history of the areas and buildings seen, and the stories to paint a picture of why things are as we see them today - and not... More

Wow, what an intriguing walk. Not one of the normal tourist tours, and lead by the very knowledgable and enthusiastic Ike. This is the second tour that I have done with him- I live just outside of London and love our capital city- and I am already booking a third.

This is hands-down one of my favourite tourist activities in all of London! I've taken my share of visiting friends and family around to various attractions and tours, and this was in the top three for how interesting and enjoyable it was, I'd say. Our family friend, visiting from Germany, took me and my father, visiting from Michigan, on the... More

Did the Greenwich walk with friends a couple of months ago. The guide (Ike) knows his subject inside out and presents it in such an engaging and articulate way that you can't help but be swept along! Seeing Greenwich through his (knowledgeable) eyes felt like being on holiday or taking a step back in time. I highly highly recommend this... More

The driving rain and northerly wind on Monday night didn't dampen spirits. The Guide was articulate, passionate, insightful and knowledgeable. I would recommend this tour to anyone. Thanks Ike!

Ike was very knowledgeable and introduced me to buildings I would have never known to exist in the back streets of London City. I am looking to do another walk to see what else I can learn. Would happily recommend this walk to anyone- it's a great way of discovering a little of London's history in a couple of hours.

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
