Address
Neighbourhood: City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.

St Botolphs was a Beauty. I went with my family and had a pleasant time. Wall paints, Glasses were looked cool. As a guild church, it looks superb over weekdays. It does not open on Sunday. a pleasant and peaceful day for me spending time in St.botolphs.

This is a beautiful looking church located next to Postman's Park. It survived the Great Fire but fell into disrepair and was refurbished between 1781 and 1791.It has stunning wall paintings, impressive stained glass and an imposing organ. It does not have a parish as it is a Guild Church so does not provide Sunday services itself but is used by another church and they do weekly talks on a Tuesday.

The church looks a bit boring from the three brick sides and only slightly better from the white facade on Aldersgate. However, go along on Thursdays from 1-4pm (enter via Postman’s Park) and the "Church Watchers" will tell you about the building and let you look around. It is just near St Barts hospital. Postman's Park is an oasis of tranquillity if the building is not open when you visit, with a famous monument to heroes who gave their own lives saving others.
Inside, the monuments and stained-glass windows are impressive. The main hall is unusual in having an apse (semi-circular area) at each end - interestingly, neither is obvious from outside. If you ask, you may be allowed into the galleries on the first floor.
As a Guild Church, rather than a parish church, it serves the midweek working population of the City. So there are midweek talks rather than Sunday services. Check the boards for details.
