- A4820REalanhSouthampton, United Kingdom16 contributionsClassic Agatha Christie Treat!Given tickets to see The Mousetrap at St Martins Theatre as a Christmas present and thoroughly enjoyed the day in London. We arrived at Victoria coach station with a couple of hours to spare before the matinee performance and had a pleasant stroll through St James park seeing the sights and then grabbing a coffee in Trafalgar Square. At the theatre we queued briefly and then greeted by pleasant chap who directed us to our seats. We were in the upper circle which is very high up and has quite steep steps but it all added to the experience. The seating is old fashioned and quite cramped if you are on the larger side but comfortable enough for a couple of hours. The play itself was brilliantly performed by an excellent cast, you could hear every word even though we were high up, and it was thoroughly enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.Visited February 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 6 February 2023
- 186400CarolineWarwick, United Kingdom2,390 contributionsExcellent staff lovely old theatreLovely old theatre, we had box b1, which gives a restricted view but the fun of sitting in a box it was great. The play is Agatha Christie so excellent, have seen it 3 times and it’s still entertaining. The staff at this theatre were excellent my friend was on crutches and they were so helpful getting her into her seat. Then at the interval I went to collect our drinks but as they were in glass I couldn’t take them to the seat and they helped me by fetching plastic glasses. The theatre is very fitting for the Mouse trap.Visited March 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 10 March 2023
- loopylyn520 contributionsNot as good as the first time I saw itWent to see The Mouse trap yesterday afternoon, the Theatre is absolutely lovely as always, and being a great fan of Agatha Christie, just had to come and see this play again. I was a little bit disappointed this time with a couple of the actors that were not that good, they didn't come across that well, ie the girl that played Mollie Ralston, and the chap that played Christopher Wren, the others though were quite good. I enjoyed it so much the first time I saw it some years ago, that I had to come and see it again for the 70th year celebration, but now I see this WOKE business is coming into the theatre, keep it to how people were in those days, and not to make it how some want it to be presented now. The way people dressed and spoke in those days is to do with our history and about Agatha Christie, please don't change it.Visited April 2023Written 12 April 2023
- Simon GMilton Keynes, United Kingdom686 contributionsJust brilliantLoved our experience in a box which has a restricted view but if you sit yourself well you can see almost everything. The theatre and the play are rightly part of British history and heritage and we loved every bit of our experience. The drinks and programmes are over priced but there is only a pound or two premium applied to them.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 April 2023
- Grover RPensacola, Florida18,030 contributionsFor 50 Years the Home of "The Mousetrap"When we looked to plan our trip to London, we knew no trip to London was complete without going to a play and perhaps no play was more London than "The Mousetrap". The play has been running for 70 years and nearly 50 of those have been at St. Martin's Theatre. I loved the theater as it is so quaint that you felt a part of the production. Yes, the play is set in such a different time. However, so much of it is still relatable to life today. When we got home, we absolutely loved the movie "See How They Run", which was made all the better having gone to this play. It may not have been the best play I had ever seen, but it was a great play for this trip and a great experience for this theater.Visited December 2022Written 27 May 2023
- FLnurseERBoca Raton, Florida2,793 contributionsA must for every Christie fanBooked the Mousetrap from US 4 months ahead of time to get the best seats and prices. Dress circle B 7,8 had a wonderful view, isle seat plenty of leg room. Quaint theater, classic decor complements the theme of the Christie play, great acoustics, very nice staff. The Mousetrap is a wonderful AC play, amusing, entertaining and full of surprises and at the end the audience is asked to keep the ending a secret. There is a small gift shop and a bar. Ladies restrooms are down a very steep staircase, clean.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 July 2023

St. Martins Theatre is quite nice; however, our family didn't enjoy Mousetrap. The plot was super predictable. I wish we would have gone to see another play in the West End.

Unable to go.
Went to book on the day, but all the remotely good seats were in pairs. They have a policy of "not leaving a single empty seat", so they would rather have two empty seats, even on the day of the performance.

Lovely quaint theatre, takes you back in time. Very old fashioned could do with the seats being more comfortable especially after sitting on them for 2.5 hours.

Seeing "Mousetrap" in the amazing old theater is an absolute must for London visitors. I had been there in the '80s and was so happy to see that the theater and performance continued to be charming.

Seats are far too small for a tall person to sit. We had dress circle row A1-3, and my husband physically had no way of sitting. I am 5’2’’ and my knees were against the balustrade. We went home without seeing the show. This limited seat space really should be stated before wasting mobey on tickets and time on travelling.

Hi
I'm thinking of booking the box seats for those show but it says restricted view how much will I miss seeing?

Exeter, UK173 contributions
Hello. It means you'll have a slight restriction view of the stage. I sat in the upper gallery, towards the back, and I had a slight restriction view of the whole stage. But, I didn't mind just as long as I could see what was going on.
Is there a barrier which would obstruct view from front row of Dress Circle - I'm 5ft 3in?

Hi there, I'm 5ft and had no problem seeing the full stage from the dress circle.

I'm going to see The Mousetrap while in London. I looked at the seating chart and it was a little confusing, in that two seats next to each other could be different prices, and seats located behind others were more expensive, whereas I would have thought they would be cheaper. Is there a rhyme or reason for this? Any help for this first-timer going to see what I'm sure will be a wonderful play would be most appreciated!! Thank you in advance.

Sorry I have no idea about seat pricing. The seating is very tight I am 6’2” and had to sit sideways knees against my friend. Pre-ordering drinks for half time is a good idea.
Is there room in the theatre to store a small suitcase as I will be travelling home immediately after the matinee performance and will have already checked out of my hotel

If you mean where you will be sitting then the answer would be no. Leg room is very tight, crossing your legs even difficult, though we are a tall family. My suggestion would be to ask the lovely staff in the ticket office if you could leave your suitcase with them. Back in the day I'm sure there was a cloakroom for checking in your coat etc, possibly still is.

Is your view obstructed on front row balcony seats?

We sat to the far left so up against the wall if you will so there was a small part of the stage to the far left that we couldn’t see. But that was remedied by leaning forward a bit.

Yes you can buy a programme before the performance. The theatre is small - so are the bars. Not far to walk

is the theatre fully wheelchair accessible? For an electric wheelchair I mean so no steps or transfers to chairs possible.
Neil H
Caernarfon, UK63 contributions
There are three steps from the street into the foyer. The theatre staff will bring out a ramp if you request it; however my wife was unable to get her electric wheel chair up the slope.Luckily she is able to walk short distances, so she managed to get to our box (three more steps inside the theatre). The very helpful lady in the foyer stored the wheelchair during the performance.
There is no wheelchair access at the back or via the stage door, but the staff will do everything they can to assist you.
