- Helen WFrimley, United Kingdom142 contributionsLovely old theatreBeautiful theatre. Quite small compared with some of the other London theatres, but the seats are all fairly close to the stage as a result. We sat on the front row of the royal circle. I'm 5'4" and had enough room, but couldn't cross my legs. The seat itself was comfortable, but pretty narrow. I think some of the larger members of the audience struggled to sit down. There were ice cream tubs left under the seats from previous performances, and the big curtain above the stage looked like it needed to be dusted. However, we thoroughly enjoyed the play, and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a simple murder mystery.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 April 2024
- Kelly J2 contributionsSo much care and attention.Wow I’m completely blown away by the show and the staff here. Because a series of events I ended up being late which really isn’t like me. And the team their went above and beyond to help me as I lost my friends due to phone battery dying. Ended being one of the best nights ever. From the cast and all the extra care. I feel so lucky🍀Visited March 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 29 April 2024

Bar staff ensure that everyone was looked after. Bathrooms were clean. Theatre itself was small and friendly. Think that even those with restricted viewing would not be disappointed.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 5 May 2024
- Al.BrinLondon, United Kingdom43 contributionsAn act all of its ownSo much character, entering this theatre is an act all of its own. The reception and bar area are both tiny, so I don’t recommend arriving early before the house opens (roughly 45 minutes before showtime) as there is nowhere to wait. Inside the auditorium feels classic and charming. The seats aren’t terribly comfortable and are quite close together, but it’s manageable. Overall a worthwhile experience to see a show here!Visited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 6 July 2024
- MidKnight240United Kingdom123 contributionsWell worth a visitSt Martin’s theatre is over 100 years old, small and quite intimate, and it’s been built for people that are tiny compared to the average person of today. Both my partner and I are tall, and not the slimmest people in the world, and I did my research for this place. The best seats for us were Row G in the orchestra stalls, which were naturally the most expensive, but they were worth every penny. They were wide enough, and there was plenty of leg-room, which is an essential for me. The theatre itself is beautiful in a slightly faded glory kind of way, but it does have a lovely atmosphere, and makes a welcome change to the more modern, functional theatres. We had a fantastic view of the stage, could hear every word, and sat there entranced for the entire performance. Every member of the cast was fantastic. If you don’t know the story, this is one that does keep you guessing until the end. One extra touch that I really liked is that you can buy a programme, and get it stamped with the number of the performance that you have attended. All-in-all, an expensive night out, but a brilliant one, and I’d gladly go again.Visited November 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 November 2024

- C H61 contributionsGreat Historical Site & PerformanceSt. Martin's Theatre had a long rich history hosting the Mousetrap play. The historical site was very charming with great decor. The staff was very helpful and the space was utilized wisely. The facility was clean and the stage was great. We greatly enjoyed the Mousetrap play twice before flying out.Visited January 2025Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 January 2025
- SteviefullKidderminster, United Kingdom2,091 contributions29481st showing of the MousetrapWe booked this on short notice as we had a free evening in London and werent disappointed. The theatre is over a 100 years old and shows its age in places but this in my opinion adds to the appeal, couple this with it showing the Mousetrap for now over 50 years and you have some real history. The production is excellent and if you can go in with no knowledge of whodunnit then you will get a lot more out of it. Well worth the visit to an historic location and a great show.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 February 2025

Loved our experience in a box which has a restricted view but if you sit yourself well you can see almost everything. The theatre and the play are rightly part of British history and heritage and we loved every bit of our experience. The drinks and programmes are over priced but there is only a pound or two premium applied to them.

Given tickets to see The Mousetrap at St Martins Theatre as a Christmas present and thoroughly enjoyed the day in London. We arrived at Victoria coach station with a couple of hours to spare before the matinee performance and had a pleasant stroll through St James park seeing the sights and then grabbing a coffee in Trafalgar Square. At the theatre we queued briefly and then greeted by pleasant chap who directed us to our seats. We were in the upper circle which is very high up and has quite steep steps but it all added to the experience. The seating is old fashioned and quite cramped if you are on the larger side but comfortable enough for a couple of hours. The play itself was brilliantly performed by an excellent cast, you could hear every word even though we were high up, and it was thoroughly enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.

Running since 1962, it’s clear that they must be doing a few things right with this production. It is a fun show to view and full of intrigue and subtleties. We went to a midweek matinee session and it was a full house. Great live entertainment.

Seats are far too small for a tall person to sit. We had dress circle row A1-3, and my husband physically had no way of sitting. I am 5’2’’ and my knees were against the balustrade. We went home without seeing the show. This limited seat space really should be stated before wasting mobey on tickets and time on travelling.

When we looked to plan our trip to London, we knew no trip to London was complete without going to a play and perhaps no play was more London than "The Mousetrap". The play has been running for 70 years and nearly 50 of those have been at St. Martin's Theatre. I loved the theater as it is so quaint that you felt a part of the production. Yes, the play is set in such a different time. However, so much of it is still relatable to life today. When we got home, we absolutely loved the movie "See How They Run", which was made all the better having gone to this play. It may not have been the best play I had ever seen, but it was a great play for this trip and a great experience for this theater.

We visited this theatre a few weeks ago to see the Mousetrap which we enjoyed. this is an absolutely stunning little theatre with loads of character and we very much enjoyed the play. However, we had pre-ordered a half bottle of Taittinger Champagne for the interval and went to collect it from the bar. We were told we couldn't take the bottle through with us and the barman said he would have to pour it into plastic glasses.... totally understandable I thought.... however, he poured our half bottle of Champagne into two plastic PINT glasses. Come on guys, if you are offering champagne, surely some plastic champagne/wine glasses would be the least you could offer!

Great play, simple set & lovely old theatre. I did get an idea who dunnit but still thoroughly enjoyed watching. My only complaint - some of the staff were a bit snappy & rude. I was seated in the orchestra stalls but queued at the main door as it is not clear at all which door to queue at for which seats. When I got to the front the doorman snapped at me "no - that's what I was just saying, you should be at the side entrance!", unfortunately nobody further than 5 feet away from him could tell a word he said when he'd opened the doors. The gentleman working the bar in the stalls wasn't exactly warm & friendly either. I told him I'd pre-ordered drinks, he gruffly replied I needed to click the link on the text message, however there is no signal in the building so the link would not open.
Overall a great evening but some of the staff need to work on their people skills & I think there should be clearer signage outside so people know where to queue

Sadly I found the seat very uncomfortable as I was in a confined space, dress circle A 6 and my husband A 7. It was actually painful sitting in my seat. I’m 165 cm and found my knees pressing up against the barrier in front.
A taller person of say 180 cm and taller would not be able to physically sit in that seat.
There should be a warning when purchasing seats.
I was so uncomfortable I could hardly keep my eyes open to watch the play. If I was on my own I would have left during the play.
The theatre is not fit for purpose.

Unable to go.
Went to book on the day, but all the remotely good seats were in pairs. They have a policy of "not leaving a single empty seat", so they would rather have two empty seats, even on the day of the performance.

Booked the Mousetrap from US 4 months ahead of time to get the best seats and prices. Dress circle B 7,8 had a wonderful view, isle seat plenty of leg room. Quaint theater, classic decor complements the theme of the Christie play, great acoustics, very nice staff. The Mousetrap is a wonderful AC play, amusing, entertaining and full of surprises and at the end the audience is asked to keep the ending a secret. There is a small gift shop and a bar. Ladies restrooms are down a very steep staircase, clean.

Hi
I'm thinking of booking the box seats for those show but it says restricted view how much will I miss seeing?
Written 30 August 2021
Hello. It means you'll have a slight restriction view of the stage. I sat in the upper gallery, towards the back, and I had a slight restriction view of the whole stage. But, I didn't mind just as long as I could see what was going on.

Is there a barrier which would obstruct view from front row of Dress Circle - I'm 5ft 3in?
Written 24 November 2019
Hi there, I'm 5ft and had no problem seeing the full stage from the dress circle.
Written 19 December 2019
I'm going to see The Mousetrap while in London. I looked at the seating chart and it was a little confusing, in that two seats next to each other could be different prices, and seats located behind others were more expensive, whereas I would have thought they would be cheaper. Is there a rhyme or reason for this? Any help for this first-timer going to see what I'm sure will be a wonderful play would be most appreciated!! Thank you in advance.
Written 6 May 2019
Sorry I have no idea about seat pricing. The seating is very tight I am 6’2” and had to sit sideways knees against my friend. Pre-ordering drinks for half time is a good idea.
Written 17 May 2019
Is there room in the theatre to store a small suitcase as I will be travelling home immediately after the matinee performance and will have already checked out of my hotel
Written 13 January 2019
If you mean where you will be sitting then the answer would be no. Leg room is very tight, crossing your legs even difficult, though we are a tall family. My suggestion would be to ask the lovely staff in the ticket office if you could leave your suitcase with them. Back in the day I'm sure there was a cloakroom for checking in your coat etc, possibly still is.

Is your view obstructed on front row balcony seats?
Written 28 August 2018
We sat to the far left so up against the wall if you will so there was a small part of the stage to the far left that we couldn’t see. But that was remedied by leaning forward a bit.

what time does the evening performance of the mousetrap finish?

Can you see everything on stage ok if you sit in the second row of the stalls
Written 12 July 2017
Yes. Stalls are jolly good seats.
Written 15 July 2017
can you buy programs at the theatre before the performance?
how big are the 3 bars, how far away from the seats are they and how do you get to them?
sorry I know its a lot of questions, thank you :)
Written 16 February 2017
Yes you can buy a programme before the performance. The theatre is small - so are the bars. Not far to walk
Written 23 February 2017
is the theatre fully wheelchair accessible? For an electric wheelchair I mean so no steps or transfers to chairs possible.
Written 18 May 2015
There are three steps from the street into the foyer. The theatre staff will bring out a ramp if you request it; however my wife was unable to get her electric wheel chair up the slope.Luckily she is able to walk short distances, so she managed to get to our box (three more steps inside the theatre). The very helpful lady in the foyer stored the wheelchair during the performance.
There is no wheelchair access at the back or via the stage door, but the staff will do everything they can to assist you.
