Nice pub

Nice atmosphere day and night, nice friendly staff behind the bar and nice sausage rolls as well. I would definitely go again .

I've been eating at the Nightingale for years, and in fact, credit where credit is due, I had a lovely meal here with friends before Christmas (hence a 2 rather than 1 star review). But today's experience was dismal. Food orders wrong, plates arriving initially without some items promised on the menu, some elements overcooked and some undercooked. The experience... More

It pains me to say this because I used to love this place... but the Nightingale really isn't a proper pub anymore. It's more of a family restaurant these days. The presence of a large number of kids (as in screaming toddlers) and reserved signs on most tables is the evidence of this. Shame, because it used to be all... More

A lovely local pub with a great atmosphere - the fire in the winter months is a great addition. A group of 8 of us went on a Friday evening having booked a table and while the food was ok and the staff were pleasant, service was not up to scratch. We still had all of our starter plates in... More

Really nice staff, we could take our doggies with us inside the pub and everyone was so friendly. Amazing food as well.

Popped in for a drink on a lively Friday evening. Pleasant staff and busy inside, does what it says on the tin really. Fairy typical selection of beer, a good mix of wines on offer too. Would go back again.

Stopped off for a bite to eat and a pint, as I was passing through. It was Wednesday afternoon so, needless to say, the pub was empty. I was greeted by the landlady the moment I stepped through the door. I noticed a fine selection of real ales, as well as a couple of premium lagers on tap. The pub... More

My wife and I met up with friends last night and had an utterly delicious meal and a super evening! The food was outstanding - cannon of lamb is highly recommended (we all had it and thought it was delicious) and the puddings are superb too. Very good value, lovely 'pub' atmosphere and cheery service - properly home-cooked food too!... More

A nice pub but the food ( presumably bought in precooked ) tasteless unseasoned and our meals, were awful ! Undercooked sausages in their toad in the hole. The mushy peas with their poor quality fish and chips resembled Heinz baby food (other brands available! ) -all In all a good drinking pub but would not recommend eating there . What a.pity... More

The food is superb with a freshness of meat you'd swear you were in the country and not suburban Balham. Fish and chips was succulent with a homemade tartar sauce. The shepherd's pie also was also delicious and the meat was organic fresh and cooked well. Pub quiz this is every wednesday at 8pm. By 7pm all big tables in... More
