We travelled up north to see a comedian here. The theatre is beautiful and very ornate. For such an old building it’s very well maintained. The acoustics weren’t fantastic at the show but was fine! Defiantly go back!

Nice place to visit with helpful staff. Always a good night out. Seats were great but I feel that they need to bring prices down to allow everyone to enjoy as they can be expensive.

Built in 1925 which means they have had nearly 100 years to install extractor fans in the upper circle. There have been plenty of Tripadvisor complaints about the unbearable heat but nothing gets done about it. It was so bad that many people left at...More

I had been looking forward to this for ever. Having found Peter Pan Goes Wrong and A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong absolutely hilarious, I was expecting pretty much the same, or at least something near. We had to leave at the interval, mainly because we...More

Hilarious farce slapstick comedy at its best. Very enjoyable show laughed from start to finish. The empire theatre great venue. Disappointed with pre booked drinks for the interval ordered a j20 not given a glass so had to queue at bar which defeated the object...More

The empire is a quite traditional theatre and has really good shows, my only concern is they do not generally have carers concessions and as I work with disabled adults this does restrict our visits.

I’m sorry to say this was by a distance the most amateurish production I ever seen in the professional theatre. It was like a school production or a village amateur dramatics society and I would add that I’ve seen more accomplished performers than the male...More

My friend and I regularly go to this theatre and this is the first time we have come away thinking what the heck was that. Apart from the scenery this show was amateurish. The story is thin at best and for a top rated theatre...More

We had two lime and sodas which came to under £2.The ceiling in the theatre is truly magnificent. Seats were in the circle' front row. No restricted view but the seats were low and ripped. Not much leg room. Would go to the theatre again....More

Hi I think you can but you wont be able to take them into the auditorium so you may be able to leave it in the foyer.

Hi, We often take our own and have never had any issues. I think that the (random) bag searches are about security or possibly alcohol rather than sweets or kids drinks. I'd suggest that you carry them in your bag though... More
