    Wonderful looking theatre building
The finest structure on the very poor Williamson Square is the Playhouse Theatre. This magnificent theatre building looks superb, the facade is so beautiful, so photogenic, of a night when illuminated its a great looking building, if you're in the area its a theatre building to most definitely check out. Easy to locate on Williamson Square.

    DeathDrop
Came here Feb 2023 to see DeathDrop with my partner and we were joined by his sister and her fiancée. It was such a good show and so funny, everyone was loving it. I like this little theatre although the bar is a bit dated which isn’t much of a problem but the choice of drinks is a bit limited and they didn’t have a rose wine which they said they had none left of or Prosecco, staff are friendly however. Only other issue was we were supposed to able to use the bar from about an hour before but when we arrived were sent away and told to go back later. The show itself I would give full marks

lovely little gem of a theatre 💚
Brilliant theatre! I'd never been to the playhouse before, but was excited to visit to see Unfortunate. The staff are so lovely and they helped guide me to where I needed to be. The seats themselves were comfy and the view was amazing! The small merch stand was well stocked and person serving was very friendly! The toilets were quite cramped but were clean so it isn't a massive issue. The theatre itself was great and the atmosphere was great! I had no issues being interrupted by late comers during the show (which always spoils it!). All in all, it's a lovely theatre and the performance was brilliant! ✨️

    Fabulous musical evening
A lovely little theatre. Not been here for about fifty years and was brought along my our son to see An audience with Tim Rice. This was a brilliant show and it was interesting to hear about Tim Rice's journey in the musical business. He was accompanied by four absolutely fabulous singers who performed many of Tim's songs from the musicals. They were so good and certainly made the evening a very pleasant experience. The theatre is only small compared to the Liverpool Empire but it has a lovely atmosphere so we will be returning in a couple of weeks time to see another musical.

    Airy position
We were there for Tim Rice's musical experience. Very good singers going through many years of song writing by Tim and others. We were right up in the gallery with a restricted view of the stage but this wasn't a problem as the show was more audio than visual however, we couldn't see the artistes when the stepped to the front of the stage. Great songs and well sung

The Playhouse Theatre is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most beautiful buildings in Liverpool, its the only reason to visit the very bland Williamson Square.
I love the look of this building, it looks amazing, makes for some great photographic opportunities especially when illuminated at night and with the stunning St John's Beacon as a magnificent backdrop, my twin brother were in this part of town pub and bar hopping and on our way to The Fall Well Pub we passed The Playhouse Theatre and stopped and admired the beautiful theatre building.
A beautiful theatre building, most definitely well worth checking out if your in the area.

This was our first visit since November 2019. On this occasion I had tickets to pick up from the Box Office which was a very quick and efficient process. You can have tickets sent to your smartphone - not sure why you can't have tickets e mailed to your computer! The upstairs bar area was open but we chose not to go up there although my partner did go up in the interval to get a programme and he said it was very well organised. Covid Measures were good - plenty of sanitiser units and staff wearing masks. We were seated in the stalls in row E and had a very good view of the stage although the seats are a little uncomfortable after a while. The event was very good and David Suchet is an excellent speaker with a very varied repertoire. Some very amusing anecdotes. At £25 per person it was also very good value for money. Overall a very good experience and we would visit again.

Firstly, the show was great and I found the theatre lovely. (We were sat in the circle).
Sadly, the evening we went we were told they were short staffed. After queuing for over 20 minutes, just as I got to the bar, a member of staff appeared and informed me and the 30/40 people behind me the bar was now closed as the show was about to start. You can imagine how annoyed people were. He was asked why this was the only bar open out of 3 and replied it was due to staffing problems. I then had to wait for my sister to come out the loo and watched as two people approached the now empty bar, giggled with the member of staff and were then allowed to get drinks! I approached and challenged him over this and he said they were employees. I bet!!!
The other bars were open during the interval, and the rest of the staff were very nice.

With the 12th of April with outside service allowed in the pubs it was so good being out and about again visiting some of the great pubs our city is justifiably famous for, while heading to The Shakespeare Pub we found ourselves on Williamson Square and without a shadow of a doubt one of the standout landmarks is The Playhouse Theatre.
A wonderful looking theatre building ,architecturally its one of the most stunning structures in Liverpool in my opinion, of a night when it's illuminated the theatre looks magical, very photogenic, makes for some great photographic opportunities, when the crowds are allowed back into this theatre again this theatre will be buzzing again.
Easy to locate on Williamson Square.

First visit to the playhouse and the staff were lovely. We arrived quite a bit earlier and there were a few of us waiting to get in all huddles inside the entrance (week we had snow and ice weather). They were short staffed due to sickness but you wouldnt have known if we werent pre warned that there may be queues for drinks etc because of it. The staff were lovely and very helpful.

Rubbish theatre. Once you pay for tickets they don't give a hoot.

We booked for six and 4 ancient old hags stole our seats. The staff told us to just get on with it and sit away from our family in rubbish seats that had restricted views and didn't even attempt to move the people despite us proving they were out seats. Staff were coming and going throughout the entire show distracting us in the naff seats we were made to sit in and talking loudly and didn't attempt to quiet down despite it causing a huge distraction.

And on top of that when ringing to get a refund or any help or information on the mishap promised a call back then nothing happens.

Money grabbing and uncaring place.

Went to see Miracle On 34th Street. The cast and show was excellent and the theatre had a lovely friendly atmosphere, all the staff were lovely and drinks very reasonably priced. Good location and looking forward to returning.

Went to see John Shuttleworth but couldn’t. We were in row D of the gallery and could only see the backdrop and back of the stage with the occasional glimpse of John’s head between all the people squashed on the front three rows. They need to take at least one row out and install seats for adults rather than toddlers.
