Great museum with different themes on each floor.
Attended the museum when visiting Liverpool in order to see the ‘Return of the Gods’ exhibition. Great to find the museum generally still free with a suggested £5 donation for those that can afford it (although surely there should be terminals for electronic donation rather than just physical donation boxes - who carries cash nowadays??) The £8 entrance for the exhibition seemed reasonable in the light of the loaned historic pieces from the Blundell collection (and other sources) . The interpretation boards were informative and often amusing, hopefully making it accessible to all visitors, including children.

    A great FREE afternoon
A great FREE afternoon! The musueum is 5 floors and has a real mix of everything including Egyptians, dinosaurs, space and even an Aquarium.. just to name a few. The hands on element was particularly engaging for children and enabled them to explore with the expert advice of staff in the museum. The restaurant was quite reasonably priced and the scouse was particularly delicious!

    An Enjoyable and interesting museum!
Wonderful museum we Had a great visit! I actually gone with my school! There are five wonderful floors to see. We had about 3 hours there. We looked at the ancient Egyptians and dinosaurs and the forest! The mummies were very interesting and a bit creepy to be honest! My favourite part was the Egyptians and forest! A big thank you to all the teachers that took us! I definitely recommend it! And a big big thank you the the people at Liverpool world museum! I hope you enjoy your visit!

    An Amazing Museum
We are a class of Year 3 and 4 pupils from Ysgol yr Hafod, Johnstown in Wrexham and we visited as part of our 'Time Travel' topic. We thought that the museum was fun, excellent, fascinating and enjoyable. It was very busy and we had a brilliant day. It is free to get in and there are five different floors to visit. There is an elevator that fits 8 people, although we all walked up the steps (which some of us didn't like)! We went to the floor of Ancient Egypt and most of us went to see the mummies. It was a bit spooky but very interesting. We also visited the dinosaurs which was really good and we all enjoyed looking at the fossils. We all agreed that there were very good exhibits. It has a lovely picnic room where we had our lunch, although some of us thought that the benches were a bit uncomfortable! We're sure that everybody who has been there has had an amazing time and we would definitely recommend it!

    Interesting and fun experience
We saw that the museum had a few free exhibits so we thought we would try it out as we had an hour or so free to kill, and I’m glad we went. The ground floor has a lovely cafe but we didn’t have anything there, the first floor and a great aquarium with a good selection of fish and other crustaceans. The second floor has an insect room which has live insects on display, the third floor has an exhibit on Egypt and has a lot of interesting artefacts and also real Mummies (with human remains visible). It was a very fun experience and would highly recommend the free exhibits!

    Good museum.
The World Museum was very well laid out, light, airy and spotlessly clean. It has quite a few categories but some of those categories didn't have a great many exhibits. Nonetheless, very good way to spend two hours in Liverpool. The museum is free to enter.

    Can’t believe it’s free entry!
Fab museum, lots to see, can’t believe it’s free entry! Lots of different levels with different things to see, interesting displays. Staff were friendly and helpful. The locker system is really good as the weather was bad and we could leave wet coats and bags locked away safely. Nice, reasonably priced cafe. Overall would definitely recommend a visit here!

    Wonderful stuff to explore
Been here first time but glad I made it. now, it's a great museum. There's so much to look at and brilliant place to take kids with you or made a family tour because there's a lot for kids. Keep them busy for a couple of hours. I like the aquarium area, butterflies, Egyptian mummy section and many more. BTW just one lift for big massive building and couple of floors not enough. Stair case was full busy. It's free entry then why not enjoy. Superb location just in front of train station.

Very much the typical natural history museum you find in large European cities, a small aquarium, an assortment of natural history exhibits, a part dedicated to dinosaurs, a look at cultures from ancient history and across the world (the Ancient Egyptian section is very good) and a small section on space (and time) with a planetarium.
Events are frequently held with "big ticket" exhibits from elsewhere but you have to pay to enter.
Not all of the subjects go into a super amount of detail about the topics and it's quite small compared to larger natural history museums like Londons Natural history museums.
It's still enjoyable and worth a visit if you have never visited a natural history museum though.

1. Its FREE to enter and one of the best museums to visit.
2. Remember to book online so that they can manage the numbers for social distancing.
3. There are mummified bodies, dinosaur skeleton structures, a bug house, an aquarium and a nice cafe and a gift shop (a bit pricey but the money supports the maintenance of the building).
4. There are arrows to follow for social distancing.
5. There is a lift to each level which are all wheelchair accessible.

Have I mentioned ITS FREE!!! - You just cant complain and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Went here on Saturday afternoon with the family.

The museum have put lots of things in place for social distancing. Booking slots to go in, asking everyone to wear masks, one way systems, anti bac stations. However unfortunately not all the patrons were following the guidelines, which made certain parts of our visit uncomfortable, but not the museums fault.

Although some exhibitions were closed, there was enough to see and keep us entertained.

Nice way to spend an hour or two with the family and is free, so a bonus.

This Museum was one of three free bookings we'd made when first planning our visit to Liverpool! Unfortunately, the fifth floor (Space) is currently closed, but most other areas are available to visit. The Museum uses a suggested one way system and face masks must be worn throughout.

The Museum houses a fascinating mix of ancient cultures, the usual Egyptian exhibits including a number of mummies out of their sarcophagi, along with african (Benin, etc) Asian, north american, etc.

The natural world is also covered with exhibits on dinosaurs as well a flora and fauna from around the world. In short the Museum lives up to its name and a visit is highly recommended

This is a well presented museum spread over a number of floors . The staff were very helpful . There is a wide and varied selection of exhibits covering a wide range of topics and places . Some better than others . My personal favourite was the Japanese section , the display of inro and netsuke were especially impressive with the jelly fish in the aquarium a close second . There was a large number of families enjoying what was on show . Also as with all good museums entry is free . Definetly worth a visit

We visited after the school summer holidays and found the museum to be not very busy. There were a number of different galleries set over various floors. We spent most of our time in the Egyptian gallery which we found to be very worthwhile.
There is just one temporary exhibition which charged an entry fee.

The interior of this lovely building is a great example of how to use space. The central courtyard is bright and airy and from there you can explore so many different zones of the world.
Each level is spacious and exceedingly well laid out and curated. The display range from underground to outer space and cover the history, culture and craftsmanship of the various areas of the world passing through different time zones.
There is something in the museum that will entertain, fascinate and intrigue every age group from children to great grandparents.

Has always been a favourite museum to visit as it has 5 floors full of interesting exhibits and a 'bit of everything' - ancient Egypt, dinosaurs, natural history, a bug house and aquarium, space and time exhibit.

Once again, it was an interesting, educational visit and a nice way to spend a couple of hours during our day trip to Liverpool, however, this time it felt like it was lacking something - previously when we have visited, there has been music on in the world cultures and ancient Egyptian exhibits which helps add to the atmospheric experience and there was a lot more interactive ness in the natural history exhibit. The skulls of different animals in glass cabinets didn't have any information as to which animal they belonged to so this would've been helpful to add.

The staff were all absolutely wonderful though, including the lovely staff on the front desk who were welcoming and patient, there were a couple of staff distributed between the floors who were helpful and engaging and finally the staff in the gift shop who were also very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the local area.

The museum is located close to Liverpool lime Street station and a short 15 min walk from james Street station and the Albert Docks, it is free to enter however it is encouraged to provide a donation if you can or buy something in the gift shop to support the museum and help keep them open to the public.

3rd time here, never got bored and couldn't ask for more. Big historical building close to train station, bus station and it is also very close to fast food areas and other shopping centres. It's beautiful building. Staff friendly, lots and lots and lots of exhibits which are for free, some more spectacular shows are paid but the price is good, also it doesn't hurt supporting the museum by donating money since it is free to enter and visit all you want, from space, to mummy and dinosaurs, to egypt and animals. Gift shops are also good and not expensive. It got very busy during week when we went there but there was lots of things to look at and overall we spent whole day there from 12 to 5. Amazing.

So much to do here. You could literally be here for hours and most of it is free! For children it’s a must, aquarium, Egyptology, bugs, natural history, there’s so much to see! Especially for a rainy day!

I’d recommend getting there early though, as in school holidays it gets very busy.

Handy cloakroom service too, so you can enjoy your time there unencumbered by heavy luggage. Staff are helpful, for busy days I’d just help to have more by the staircases to direct safely the flow of footfall preventing congestion.
