Actually a concrete wigwam is the best description. The modern design and construction clashes with the more traditional Cur h of England cathedral at the other end of Hope Street. Not, in my opinion, a great building outside, but once in and on a half...More

Sometimes known as ` Paddy`s Wigwam `, [ it does look like one, ] the stained glass is stunning, very peaceful, quite a special place, even for a non-believer. Well worth a visit.

Our Beatles tour took us past "Paddy's Wigwam" as it was described by our guide. I'd seen it many times since my youth when its architecture was certainly a topic of conversation. Another place to visit on our next trip.

I love visiting the Catholic Cathedral The modern architecture and stained glass windows make a very special experience inside and out. The ambiance inside is nice and peaceful and you get a sense of something beyond yourself.

Wonderful space for solumn liturgy with light streaming from the high up stained glass. The most surprising thing here is the crypt which was intended to be beneath the original cathedral design. A huge brick space. Upstairs the stations of the cross are modern and...More

The original abandoned plans for the Metropolitan Cathedral in Liverpool were so ambitious that it would have rivalled St Peters Basilica in Rome. However the advent of World War 2 and soaring costs lead to the 1967 version we see today by Frederick Gibberds. The...More
