Members of my own family passed through Liverpool on their way to the New World, so I have a particular fondness for this unique sculpture which reflects on the numerous journeys made by immigrants from across Europe and beyond. A striking and poignant peace of...More

Need to know the history and read about it before visiting as it's just a pile of suit cases on the ground. It's not a busy or typical attraction in Liverpool.

A CASE HISTORY is a wonderful piece of street art that can make you smile with its quirky random layout and location and also make you stand and think about the imagination that has taken place from our city over the many years. The cases...More

Imagine a whole load of cases dumped on a city centre pavement. Outrageous you might think but with artistic licence, the Hope Street, Liverpool art installation is a thought-provoking, social statement and reminder of the immigrants who sailed from the port of this great city....More

The cases depict the luggage of the many immigrants that left Liverpool for a new life in America or Ireland. I think they are good and create a lot of interest from visitors to Hope Street.

Standing at the corner of Hope Street and Mount Street, perhaps the cases symbolise the journey of faith between the city's two incredible cathedrals. Certainly they're a quirky monument to this seafaring city and its dubious history of slavery. It also pays homage to the...More
