What a place. From start to finish it was excellent! The greeting in the clubhouse was nice, not over friendly but nice. They stock some quality equipment also. We had the Woodall breakfast, and it was superb. £6.95 for a delicious breakfast, including 2 sausage,...More

Food here very poor when one considers it is the home of the English Golf Union - really, they should do better than this!

This review relates solely to the Hotchkin Course which provides a fair but occasionally fierce test of a golfer's skill. Fairways were fast and the bunkers penal, but even a handicap golfer can get round with a reasonable score it they hit straight and avoid...More

I convinced my group to extend our annual golf trip to the UK beyond our normal length in order to play 2 great inland courses. The first was Notts Hollinwell, previously reviewed, and it was great. The last was Woodhall Spa, generally regarded as the...More

We played both courses over the weekend. The Hodgkin is tough and I would say if you're an average golfer be prepared to be beaten up. The Bracken is a fairer course for the average golfer, great greens. The staff at the course were friendly...More

Played The Bracken Course in a syndicate competition, what a fabulous course to play. Yes it’s challenging but very fair too. The fairways are springy and beautifully kept. I found the greens the biggest challenge, a lot of very subtle breaks that are quite difficult...More

We played both courses recently. The Hodgkin is quite simply far too hard unless you are a single figure handicapper. Huge carries on many holes to reach the fairway and the bunkers are just too deep for most 14-28 handicappers to get out of. The...More

Entered the Spring meeting with friends and was expecting big things from the golf courses. Unfortunately this year they have chopped down lots of trees, several bunkers were being worked on and were out of commission. The greens on both courses were dreadful. You can...More

Good venue with beautiful surroundings and excellent food spoilt by a dated, small noisy rear 2nd floor bedroom.Friendly staff who were unable to help with a room change as the hotel was full.

I played the Hotchins course. Very challenging for someone with a 22 handicap but I played well. We played off the yellow tees. Really enjoyed it. Lots of bunkers and they are deep. Rough includes heather! This is well designed a real joy to play....More
