Although it can get a bit crowded it is still worth visiting for its beauty. The western side of the lake is more rural and peaceful and ideal for a lovely walk

This beautiful part of northern England is definitely worth a trip! We went to the Beatrix Potter museum which we loved and went camping nearby the village.

We sailed on the Teal from Bowness to Lakeside and then hopped on the steam train to Haverthwaite and return. Well worth the cost and also dog friendly. At the station there were some owls from a local sanctuary on display - beautiful!

Whether walking, bike riding, boating, as a couple or family the lake offers a huge range of activities to explore. There are a number of small towns, country parks, dining opportunities to visit. The views are breathtaking and people seem very friendly in our experience.

We spent a few days in the area and enjoyed boat trips, walks along the banks and I even swan in the lake. Get yourself there.

If you can spend some time on Lake Windermere during your life, do it. I've rarely seen such a beautiful place. It rivals the Austrian Alps and the Scottish Highlands in beauty.

Stopped off in Windermere for the day and hired an electric boat. This is a fantastic way to see the lake and a great experience all round.

You will find plenty of restaurants in the town and there are several flat walks from here which you will find acceptable.
Please note it is sheer ignorance to call Windermere Lake Windermere.
