Sincere apologies for any disappointment this may cause, we look forward to welcoming you back to the new museum.

We have previously visited the factory outlet shop which is at presently under repair due to the terrible flooding, but the make do shop is worth a visit just to see the vast selection of paints etc available if you are into painting drawing or model making the helpful staff can advise to get you sorted.

After the first visit and finding the Pencil museum closed this time I checked on line for opening times before visiting to see it was open till 4.30 so we drove the 2.5 hours to visit to find it was still closed. Suppose will try again next year. 3rd times the charm I suppose.

not sure why I did't look on here first, but the building looks like it is closed for good. I did read somewhere that it reopens at Easter time, but this looks unrealistic. Went as a kid with my dad and loved it by all accounts, tried to take my girlfriend - no joy. good memories though

... well get a grip! I'll tell you! It's all about pencils. This was actually one of William Shakespeare's favourite museums, although in the gift shop he couldn't decide what to buy; 2B or not 2B. Not to put too fine a point on it, but you'll need to get your tickets quick, they're going sharpish! I don't want to... More

!t's still closed after the disastrous floods a couple of years back. It's such a bonkers place though and my kids have always loved it and were disappointed it was shut. However we look forward to the problems with local utilities being sorted and going back next year. A sign in the car park perhaps and on the road before... More

Having seen other reviews dating Sep 2016 I had assumed that the pencil museum had reopened. It hasn't. It won't be opening until Easter 2017 due to flood damage. There is a shop in Keswick which sells Derwent pencils.

We took our grandchildren with us to visit the pencil museum, they loved trying to find the clues and answer to the activity sheet they received. They also loved trying on the dressing up clothes as a pilot and particuarly enjoyed sitting down colouring and trying out the water pencils. On the whole a very enjoyable experience that I would... Cannot understand the posts below extolling the virtues on the museum - it is shut, there are no signs of any work being carried out. It looks and feels derelict. The signs stating it will re-open soon are all faded, the toilets are blocked off by iron grids. Really strange experience as there is a sign indicating pedestrian access ad... More

Thank you for your review, the museum has notified trip advisor that posts are being added while the museum remains closed. Unfortunately due to unforeseen utilities problems it is taking longer to reopen than we had anticipated. The pedestrian access is for the car park as this is privately owned, the toilets have had to be blocked off for health... More
