On Sunday 12th March my wife & I decided to walk from Keswick (Chestnut Hill) round Derwentwater and catch the launch back to Keswick. Unfortunately we had to curtail our walk at Nichol End to to my wife hurting her leg. When we tried to buy a ticket in the cafe there we were told that the launch was not... More

Our party of 6 spent 3 days in Keswick in mid-March, so it was the very tail-end of the Winter season (only 6 'sailings' per day) just a few days before the start of the Summer season with its full programme of 16+ sailings per day. The weather was on our side and we enjoyed 3 glorious days of sunshine,... More

Great service, very friendly, informative and welcoming staff. Spectacular scenery which can only be appreciated from the lake. The launch travels clockwise and anti clockwise around the lake. There are plenty of interesting stops to hop on and off. You can get to Catbells, walk to the top then get the launch back to Keswick. A good option as there... More

Reasonably priced for a family ticket to hop on/off. Ideal for a family day out to allow yourselves a trip on Derwentwater and to hop off at any one of the various drop off/pick up points with access to walks around the lake as well as access to various other walks including Catbells. Lakeside and forest walks are well defined... More

Had a fantastic trip with the family when they came up to visit. We'd been on before so we knew what to expect but my sister hadn't and loved it. Well worth it for the views and to escape the shoppers in town. Can get breezy but I'd suggest sitting out for the best views and photo opportunities. The inside... More

Whilst staying in the lakes in July/August with my partner and some of my partners family we came here after finding Windermere too busy as we got there a little late in the day. We made our way and booked a boat to hire for about three quarters on an hour. The boat was good and the lake and scenery... More

We visited on a wet day with heavy rain showers, and unfortunately the boat we were on didnt have a top over the outside seating. So inside was completely full, rather claustrophobic, and the windows were steamed up. Couldn't really see much I was expecting some commentary about the lake, the area and the boat, but nothing other than the... More

you have variable ticket where you can hop on hop off. you have to have either a clockwise or anticlockwise ticket. just stand on the jetty and wave and the boat comes in. frequent times ideal for cat bells and walks the other side of the Derwent from Keswick.

Our self hire motor boat engine overheated and seized up (apparently due to an oil line that wasn't reconnected after maintenance) and without any way of controlling the boat we were left to drift with the wind onto the rocks surrounding St Herbet's island. There were no resources inside the boat that we could use (no anchor, no rope, no... More

The launch around Derwentwater is one of the great pleasures of a day in Keswick, especially on a warm day. Whether you are using it as a springboard for a walk to Catbells, heading for a stroll around the garden that inspired Beatrix Potter, or just sitting back to enjoy some of the most beatiful views in Cumbria, this is...
