Hill Top was Beatrix Potter's most beloved place, packed full of her favourite things and left just as she wanted it for visitors to enjoy. You will see why she loved it so much and used it and the surrounding countryside as inspiration for many of her famous children's tales.

Shame that knowing how busy the Lakes are at Christmas and New Year it wasn't open! More than us turned up with young children, got parked up, got out and then found out it was closed while a bit of DIY was being done. Who thought that was a good idea?!! Well done (NOT) National Trust!

a joyful experience with or without children. The treasure trail is great fun and good value indeed. The shop has some very pretty Beatrix Potter items, and the people are very friendly.

We took the kids there while on summer holliday. Its a series of stories sets using figurines some of which were animated. There is a small garden too. If you are a big fan of peter rabbit, this would be a fantastic place to visit, otherwise its ok but pricey.

Hill Top remains as it was when Beatrix Potter lived there many years ago. The house retains the atmosphere of one of our favourite writers and the surrounding landscape is beautiful. Well worth a visit when in the area.

We arrived early for a visit and there was a crowd starting, you have to get your ticket for a timed entry a the shop nearby and then walk a short distance to the house proper. Very nice garden good idea to have a round route in and out. guide informative and we enjoyed the house - mind your head.... More

Hill Top is surprisingly small inside and appeals to children of all ages. B. P. Home is next door to the pub featured in one of her many stories as is the local area. Nothing has changed from Beatrix days down to the old irons and the old slate flooring

I took my mum for her 80th birthday as she always wanted to visit. A lovely experience and nice to see where the ideas from the books came from. If I have a criticism though I think it's a little pricey for what only takes half an hour however long you linger, I understand that the cost is for the... More

The rooms are quite small and, although they give you a ticket so that it doesn't fill up too much, it still gets quite full

We took our 20 year old niece here and the Lady guides made the visit wonderfull for her. She went back in age to 4 as she was shown the treasures in the house.
