William Wordsworth attended this little grammar school in Hawkshead and there is a very pretty church up on the hill behind it. The town it cute and there are public footpaths to walk as well. Beautiful.

An excellent little museum, with an informative and entertaining curator, who painted an interesting picture of life in this grammar school in days gone by.

Fantastic look back in time at early education. Research for my family history brought me here and how fantastic to find what could be one of my ancestors had carved their name into the furniture. Brilliant

Sweet and intimate look at a 400 year old school that fed such institutions as Oxford and Cambridge. An unimaginable regimen in the 21st Century.

Our Lake District tour brought us to this quaint old town, Hawkeshead. The town probably became famous because poet, William Wordsworth's primary school is located here. There is a guided tour available but due to lack of time we skip the tour.
