This is a spectacularly beautiful place. It can be wild and cold but is a place to be visited. Leave Walna Scar car park and follow Walna Scar Road for an hour or so, it is quite a hike, go up Dow Crag, drop down by Goat Hause to take a closer look at Goat Water on the way back to Walna Scar road. Alternatively climb Coniston Old Man and drop down by Low Water and the mine workings. Whichever way you go you will be rewarded with panoramic views that are quite stirring.

A truly wonderful place. Go along Walna Scar Road, past Blind Tarn and over Dow Crag and back via Goats Water (if not going up the Old Man). There is a shorter route avoiding Dow if you turn off Walna Scar Road earlier. It is an arduous hike, but the views, scenery and atmosphere of this place need to be experienced to be believed. The reward is this truly wild rugged landscape, it is simply breathtaking. It can get very "blowy" over Dow and the mist can come in very quickly, not for the Sunday flip-flop walker, come prepared for a proper mountain hike.

Accessed from the Walna Scar road, at the foot of the very impressive Dow Crag, a very remote secluded and "dark" setting surrounded by cliffs
