Thank you for such a kind review. (We think we're one of the best museums too, but we might be a little biased!) We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed visiting, and especially the Bronze age boat. We hope you're able to visit again soon.

The museum is in the centre of town. We were waiting for a non existent rental car when we went there and it gave us a nice break. It gives a thumbnail sketch of bronze age to roman occupation of Dover. The dioramas are well...More

As well as being crammed full of many pieces from Dover's so Historic Past the most memorable item must be The Bronze Age Boat. Unearthed just a few years ago when a new road in and out of Dover was being built, a pile was...More

We were surprised to run into this museum while we were looking for the Visitors Information Center in Market Square. Museum is very well done with lots of varied historical displays. Depictions of early residents, Romans, 1700-1800s military defending the port; a 3500 year old...More

Right in the heart of town, this little museum does a great job telling about the history of this area of England. Also there is an actual long boat on display, which is world famous since its discovery, not terribly long ago.

WOW, town museums are generally well run and can be interesting but always small scale and don't generally do more than give a 1/2 hour shelter from the rain. Dover is nothing like this- stunning and a total surprise. At first you think this is...More

Dover is normally a place people pass through and the centre of town needs some TLC, but the Dover museum has the oldest sea going boat in the world - 1500 BCE. Worth going there for the boat alone and then onto the White Cliffs...More

We thought we would take a look and were suprised to find three floors of things to see. It was very interesting to see models of how Dover has changed over the years.
