These are some interesting ruins of a Norman-era castle, which you can admire in passing from the outside - and it is worth a quick walk past if you are out in Canterbury on a day trip (for example, we stopped by walking from Westgate Gardens to Dane Jon). However, rather disappointingly, the entry was blocked off, so you couldn't... More

This is a waste of time, don't bother. Its just ruins and nothing to see.But a nice reminder that it was an old city.

Bare walls of a small but imposing Norman keep, adjacent to busy roundabout in one direction, Westgate gardens and monastic remains in another. Of interest because of construction, similar to Rochester castle on a much smaller scale. Dusty and hot in the summer.

This morning I walked up to have a look at what was left of Canterbury Castle. The castle was built in the early 12th century to shore up Norman control. Today it is a shell. One tower was still left to climb. Quite a good castle and I am an enthusiast - but this was not one of the interesting... More

Fenced off with ugly wire fencing and no access to the interior. The visit Canterbury makes no mention of this and the staff in the visitor centre also neglected to tell me and had no information on it There are noticeboards around the site with information but without access they are slightly superfluous

Wire fenced off with no one working. Not sure why it is fenced off. Only one gate is opened so be prepared to walk around the castle and then your exit is locked, so you have to backtrack the way you came to get out. Not much to see here, just a 5 minute walk around and back. Located a... More

A once Normal castle, one of the oldest structures in Britain from the 11th Century. Some panels with its history displayed on its grounds.

Just a pile of stones; little information available. About a 5 minute walk through. Stop on your way into or out of Canterbury.

Presumably some works are in progress, but English Heritage has not provided any signage to explain why the Castle is behind Heras fencing. Needs explanation.

On the edge of the old city this is worth going to. Despite the ravages of time and people there is quite a lot of the keep there to see and enter with good information boards around.
