Electric boat trip

A fantastic experience, a very interesting and knowledgeable skipper. Saw a kingfisher. A very tranquil and elegant way to see the canal. Thoroughly recommend .

I love coming here for a relaxing wander along the canal. Very pretty and peaceful also good for getting some great photos. Even coming here on a cold and windy day helps blow the cobwebs away. If you like wildlife, canals, peace and quiet then this is ideal. often see parents bring their children here to feed the birds along... More

Well what a place. We have a 6 year old daughter and we went for a long walk along he canal. It's very clean and tidy and has a lot of wildlife along it. We totally enjoyed the experience. You can tell that paths and routes are constantly maintained and is very safe. The car parks are good although small.... More

A fascinating backwater, which you can visit on a quiet, electric boat from Hythe. It goes from the same boathouse that hires out rowing boats. On a nice day, it is a very pleasant way to spend an hour.

What a lovely location shame about the staff neither friendly or helpful when we asked which is the best route to take which isn't hard as you can only go left or right but not knowing the area abit of local knowledge would have been nice ,all we got was (4 hours that way 1 hour that way )'the young... We travelled to Hythe from Dungeness on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway. Hythe station is just across the road from where we began our walk. There is lots of wildlife to see and fishermen seated along the riverbank. We came across the boat hire hut and saw the ad for trips on the electric boat. It runs from 12... More

The rowing boats are so much fun. Allan the boatman is very funny and friendly and always willing to lend you a hand. Take your friends or family and just sit back. I have walked my dog along the canal for many years now and have found it to be very dog friendly. There are bins around every corner, as... More

We visited Hythe in Kent today and the Royal Military Canal was a complete surprise and delight. The lovely shaded canal banks were perfect for a walk in this town with its Medieval and Georgian buildings and its bustling High Street, but more about the canal later. After a stroll along the beach front we headed into town and found... More

My husband and I thought we would cycle part of the royal military canal and we're rather disappointed to find that the cycle path doesn't actually run a long the canal. Sure it runs parallel, but you can't actually see it. A lovely walk if you're on foot and taking the paths either side of the canal that are for... More

This is a lovely peaceful walk along what was a military defends system. Today you would never know though. It is a delightful walk, great for dogs with plenty of bins for the poop bags. The bird life is amazing, warblers singing and swans nesting. There are picnic places along the canal with tables and bike stands. A really relaxing... More
