Verulamium Park is a public park in the City of St Albans, Hertfordshire....

Verulamium Park is a public park in the City of St Albans, Hertfordshire. Along with being a wide open area for recreational purposes, the park includes all that is left of a Roman settlement from which the park takes it's name.

The large amount of history on view in the park has resulted in a museum dedicated to the Historic Roman heritage upon which St Albans has been built.

The park also includes a long list of facilities including; Tennis courts, sand courts, football and cricket pitches, An athletics track and field facility, a golf course, childrens play area, outdoor childrens Splash Park, a large leisure facility called westminster lodge Leisure Centre which contains a gym and indoor swimming pool, a cafe, a large lake fed by the River Ver, plenty of provision for picnics and family activities and what is thought to be the oldest and one of the most famous public houses in England called The Fighting Cocks.

Overlooking the entire area is the St Albans Abbey, a large cathedral dating back to 1077AD. The park is an epicentre of greenery and wildlife and it is a hub of social and recreational activity that the people of St Albans can be extremely proud of.

Certainly a pleasent waters edge walk, a little busy at times but on a nice day its an attractive place to while away a few hours, plenty of great pubs nearby as well. Unfortunately parking can be an issue though.

An excellent museum for both adults and children. Well laid out and the staff are both friendly and very knowledgeable.

Make sure you see the Roman Mosaic, circa 180 AD. Really impressive and not something you see every day

Cathedral visit was filled with many interesting facts about the Romans. The cathedral was built with Roman stone from Verulamium and The pillars dated back from Roman times. The round pillars were new whilst the Cathedral had many interesting additions at different times.

Often take the dog and the grand kids for a walk and a play in the park. Also the inn on the the park is a good place for a coffee and a snack.

Parked by the museum and then took a stroll through the park and around the lake. Lots of water and a good water play area for kids. Lots of birds and wild fowl around. Very nice to walk through and then up to St Albans town centre and the Cathedral.

Brilliant all weather activity - whether you fancy a picnic or just a walk with the dog. This is the heart of St Albans events from Bonfire Night to Fun Runs, Cricket matches, 5 a side footy, joggers, walkers and there is always an ice cream van should you feel the need

This park is a great space on a sunny day, even in the winter. But lower levels have a tendency to flood after a lot of rain. Ponds full of birds, huge expanse of grass, and a great little cafe too! And of course a play area for kids. Recommended.

Love this place so much. Beautiful, particularly on a sunny day. Like watching the ducks and the swans. Grab a coffee and sit on a bench.

This is a stunning park with a lake, cafe, playing fields, paths to run on, a playground, lots of bird life and beautiful trees all set against the backdrop of the Cathedral
