Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We came when the theatre was being set up for a festival, so it wasn’t possible to go down amidst the ruins, so you walk around the perimeter which has three or four information boards and that’s your lot. I questioned the staff about this and they explained that no one can explore the ruins at any time. Therefore this is the only Roman ruin I have visited in this country where it’s not possible to walk among the ruins. They are scant ruins and there are no health and safety concerns so I think this is poor and said so. If you want to visit this, make sure you get a discount from the main museum, be prepared to view from afar and for the whole thing to take ten minutes. The other ruins have virtually no features and are in the middle of excavation so provide scant additional interest.

Well presented ruins of the Roman Theatre, located on the edge of the town centre at the end of Verulamium park.

The remains of the Roman Theatre in St Albans are a must see historical location. As St Albans was a such a large Roman city this is one the best Roman locations in the United Kingdom

This is very nicely presented, but it is a shame that the theatre did not hold up as well as some other Roman theatres from that era. Get your combined ticket at the museum, which is superb, and see the other Roman remains in the park. Stop at the cathedral, too, for a different historic period. St Albans is a great place for a day outing from London.

Obviously, not much remains from this theater, just ruins. But still, historical landmark! Just imagine romans somewhere north from London! Access is 2.5 pound per adult, there is parking. There are signs and information boards you can read some background info. And benches! So sit down and enjoy the view.

Despite no masonry remains this is surprisingly impressive and better than it looks in photographs. Excellent information boards which make it easy to visualise what the theatre would have looked like. There are also some other house and shop remains close by. Visit together with the museum and adjacent park for a good picture of Roman St Albans.

Lots of roman history about the local area. Very interesting place to visit and explore. Not much survives of the original roman town but the museum is very informative. A must visit when in st albans. Has a lovely park too. The theater has outside plays there too.

Visiting the Theatre at Veruamium was something that I had wanted to do for decades. Arriving to find that most of the site was off limits was bad enough, but to see it filled with modern seating, lighting and stage with trailing cables and ramps over the ruins made it very difficult to enjoy. I asked if i could go down into the centre but was told that no-one was allowed there, even when there wasn't a festival on. This seemed strange as the audience for the festival were going to be seated there, and many of the interpretation boards could only be viewed from within the ruins! I was offered a refund but I wanted to look around the rest of the site. That was perhaps a mistake as the other excavated remains were not of great interest, and the main interpretation board for the Town House was inaccessible due to the festival hospitality tents.

Roman theatre in St Albans, it’s sounds very exciting. You can reach it just by walking from the main parking in Verulamium Park. The ticket is £2.50 for entry and you can stay as long as you want! I visit this place on a very windy day so I spend maybe 15 minutes. To be honest there is no much to see and information boards doesn’t say much.
Any way I think it’s worth to see it specially if you live around.

Small entry fee required.
Interesting to see the ruins. Some benches available to watch the world go by!
No major complaints- only suggestion would be to include more information boards.
