What a beautiful little chapel, you wouldn't even know it was there its practically hidden but I visited with a friend who has lived in the area all her life. There is a little section where you can write a little note to somebody that has passed and put it on the wall. Just nice to take a few minutes... More

A wonderful oasis of peace - quite the opposite end of the scale to the truly magnificent Cathedral. A place for contemplation and prayer.

I was so pleased that we happened on this charming little church. It would be so easy to pass by without noticing it and once inside the quiet and peace is immediately striking and soothing

We came across St Lawrence's by chance on the way back to our hotel. It's easy to miss it, but it's worth a visit. There is lovely engraved glass meeting you as you enter and leave, while inside it is an intimate and peaceful place to sit and be quiet. It also contains a memorial to the doctor who attended... This church is tucked away in a beautiful alleyway just off the cathedral square. There is a welcoming atmosphere and the interior is both interesting and attractive.

Well worth a visit. A new Bishop before he is enthroned has to meet the Dean here before they go up to the Cathedral.

Many of the really old architecture has been unfortunately updated, but you can see remnants of the Normans. See the plague that lists the gifts to the poor - unique donations.

Another accidental discovery - beautiful respite near the Cathedral. Quiet and cool on a hot day, peaceful and stately, calm and spiritual. Highly recommend a momentary stop to your day - near the buttercross.
