About
A beautifully preserved old butchers shop transformed into a traditional Alehouse selling gravity fed cask ales, craft keg, ciders and wines. The smallest pub with the biggest beer list in Southampton.

You've got to visit this pub at least once! A longtime local butcher's shop has been gutted out and the decorated tiles left. A row of tables and chairs are crammed in on one side and a few rows of barrels crammed at the back...More

Although the beer was very good, the customer service was TERRIBLE. Was there with 6 friends and after only 1 1/2 hours we were told by the owner that he wouldn't let us stay if we didn't buy more drinks because there were people standing...More

I can’t possibly put into words how good this place is. Dan and Anthony get the beer selection spot on every time. It’s good beer, kept well, in superb surroundings. My life would be a sadder place without the Butchers Hook. I wish I lived...More

Southampton's first micropub and still one of the best, brilliant range of cask ales and craft kegs. Definitely worth a visit although it is a little out of the way being in Bitterne Triangle but well worth the effort. Be aware, it is closed Monday's...More

If you like small bars/pubs, big atmosphere, and different beers, ales an ciders, then this is the place to be. Granted it is small but that's the thing that makes it!! Only downside is seating is a bit restricted an outside seating is a pain...More

We had a pleasant experience. We are micropub fans. The lady serving was friendly and helpful. It was only the parking that was a bit problematic.

Bare bones tiny tap house. Just fantastic gravity pulled real Ale, wooden benches. No tv. No music. You can actually talk to your friends, mostly "this beer is marvellous" - and "is that really a balti next door ? AND a chip shop opposite !!"...More

Dear Customer, apologies for your disappointing experience. Unfortunately Vaping is something we have tried to manage on a case by case basis but occasionally people seem to be very inconsiderate of other customers. There are certain devices which create huge clouds of smoke and spoil...More
