Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I dont know if it is because I have lived in Southampton all my life but the naming of the High street, below Bar and Above Bar the QE Mile just seems so pointless apart from an Anchor placed outside Holyrood Church there isnt any other revelance to the QE2. I think that perhaps I maybe missing something?

A lovely area in the docks, so many ships have departed from here, Its full of history and makes you realise how important the docks in Southampton have been to the cruise industry over many years.

Yes, this does take you through the pedestrianised area of town as that is what has appeared in this part of the city. The point of the QEII mile is that it takes you from the top of town near the SeaCity Museum and the Titanic Memorial, down to the docks. On the way, you can branch off to see other historic points of interest. Halfway down, you will come across BarGate and then the QEII anchor and Holy Rood church ruins, you can veer off to explore the Old City Walls. It depends on whether you're interested or want to be cynical about this part of Southampton as to whether you appreciate this - pick up a map to guide you and make the most of it!

I thought it would be an interesting walk through the heart of Southampton. Alas I encountered 8 people begging all ppretending to be homeless but at the end of the day I saw them again, pooling their money and then entering a pub!. The walk takes you through the parks ( nice ) ,through the central shopping area ( hardly supprising ) to the anchor from the QE2. The best part of the walk was the ruined church at the end with it's clock tower.

What can be said about this? There is the Golden Mile in Blackpool, The Royal Mile in Edinburgh and now we have the QE2 mile in Southampton. The problem is that you can walk the whole length of this and never really notice that it has any connection with the QE2 or indeed anything else. There is an old anchor from the QE2 on show but really this particular pedestrian trail goes by without really ever really being noticed.

I've seen the negative comments and can only shake my head. Not only did I enjoy my time in Southampton, but I thought that the well-organized, nicely marked, and historically fascinating QE2 mile, complete with sidewalk markers, was the highlight of the visit, ranking ahead of the Seacity Museum by just a little bit.

Chilly, raw, occasionally wet weather was not daunting; rather it was an addition to the ambience and authenticity of the place.

We stopped on the way home for a pint and a bite to eat, and we went home feeling that the time was most well spent!

This is obviously the idea that earned a pay rise for someone working for the local authority but putting a red heading on the street signs and setting a few brass plaques into the pavement doesn't make an attraction. There is nothing at all special about the QE2 mile it's simple another high street with the same shops that you will find in any random town centre in England. If it were possible to give a negative score I would do so

I have walked there, the area was so quiet and there was nothing to do actually. Only closed shops and hotels on both sides of the road.

Alright for a walk from the Civic Centre down to the sea, but there was little to relate the experience to the great Cunard liner. Even one of the great anchor relics was hidden inside the walls of the Holy Rood church with no plaque to identify it.

Our group enjoyed this interesting walking especially the opportunity to see the anchor from the Cunard passenger liner QE2.
