Beautiful parklands for relaxed walk

We visited these beautiful parklands during our brief stay in Southampton recently and found them quite fantastic. Would have been worthy of a picnic stop if we ahd the time

Go here with the dog and grandchildren for a fun day out.ample parking so no hassle with the car. Kids love feeding the ducks and swans meeting and playing with other kids in the park. Also it's a great walk along the river.

It was a beautiful walk along the river. For children there are playgrounds. One can take some bird seed to feed the swans and the ducks. It's a beautiful stretch to cycle as well. You can carry a picnic basket .

Riverside Park is perfect for an afternoon of fun. There is something for everyone. Walks and cycle paths by the river, seats from which to watch the boats on the river, a swan and bird feeding station. Best of all is the children's adventure play ground and ice cream van. Cafes are available at nearby Bitterne Triangle selling all kinds... More

There are often young waterbirds to look out for in the Spring, but we enjoy keeping an eye on the changing seasons in the trees. It is a pity that Pitch and Putt is no longer there, but there are... Riverside place is a lovely place for a stroll, but is one continues along the river you can go all the way to Winchester. Stopping at Bishopstoke (for the loo!), at Allbrook farm shop for a cuppa and a bacon sandwich, Shawford for a great coffee or a pub lunch (and the train back if you're running out of time... More

So another fine attraction closes in Southampton!! Others included the lido and the ice rink. But hey never mind, West Quay have built more restaurants and cinemas!! We needed them like a hole in the head.

Picnics/ducks/cycle section along path. Not a lot happening here if you are looking for excitement. Two kids parks. Nice for a stroll and get an ice cream.
