Attended last night with sister-in-law. We have seen Dirty Dancing at the Mayflower 2 years ago and absolutely loved it . Last night was terrible. Ten minutes in there was a 'technical ' difficulty which lasted 30 mins. Audience were reminded that the two bars were open so mayhem ensued . The content of the show was tacky not tastefully... Visited to see Dirty Dancing. I was going with friends and wasn't particularly looking forward to it. However I absolutely loved it. It is such a feel good show - the actors are great, the dancers incredible and the two singers are stunning. It follows the movie faithfully. The theatre is lovely and has character. It does need work- especially... More

Opening night, fantastic performance. Full house. Faultless cast, very entertaining especially as I don't usually enjoy musicals, had my full attention. Theatre is old, carpets are sticky and need urgent replacement or deep cleaning. Bar staff were great, overall an excellent evening.

I took my mother to see Oliver by the Portsmouth Players. We booked last minute and it was nearly sold out but still got a good seat. The show was amazing. They are very talented and the music was lovely. The theatre is so beautiful with amazing architecture. The staff were very polite and it was relatively easy to get... More

I took my wife to see the Russian State Ballets version of The Nutcracker. It's the first time I've been to the Kings Theatre and I have to say it's a slightly older decor than I've seen at other theatres, but to be honest that's not really a problem. The stall seats were comfortable and had plenty of leg room,... More

I go to this theatre quite often to see various shows. This week I was there to see 10cc, and had an absolutely marvellous evening! Had good seats in the stalls about 6 rows from the front, it seems so intimate even though it's a big theatre as no big orchestra pit in front of the stage, so the band... More

First visit to the Kings for many years and not a lot has changed! The seats at the front stalls still have very little legroom (Tip: Go for Stalls Rows Q - Z), but the theatre is still as cozy as it ever was. Drinks at the bar are pricey - common with all theatres, but we had a drink... More

Visited the Kings to see Buddy, what a tremendous show and in this superb theatre just added to a great evening. The Kings is a lovely old theatre that combines history to a modern up to date theatre experience. We always love visiting the theatre and have seen many great performances there and Buddy was one of the best.

The story of The Small Faces was told in an unusual, but interesting way. The narrator walked around in front of the stage, at audience level. Because of the design of The Kings, this was possible, whereas at some of the newer theatres this would detach the storyteller from the rest of the cast. During the performance, members of the...
