I had never heard of the D Day Embroidery, but it is simply sensational, and the original museum was built to house it. The newer part contains fascinating artifacts and stories about the build up to D Day. Loved the compass hidden in a button,...More

I visited with 3 fellow battlefield tour guides from Normandy. We come from a location with over 20 DDay and Normandy warfare museums. The newly refurbished DDay Story beats all our French museums hands down. Will recommend it to allMore

The ephemera and artefacts are logically arranged and cover a huge range of topics. The animations set the scene on both sides of the Channel without pandering to taste and certainly not coming over as being made for children (which is too often these days)....More

Interesting displays of D-Day to bring the reality of that time to life. As for the tapestry, it is a magnificent piece of artwork. It in itself is worth a trip to Portsmouth and this museum.

The No.19 or No.23 go quite close to the D-Day Museum. If you search online for "Portsmouth bus route map" you can see where they go. However the museum is currently closed for refurbishment, reopening March 2018.
