Birdland is a natural setting of woodland, river and gardens, which is inhabited byover 500 birds ( swans, pelicans, flamingos, hornbills, cranes, storks, cassowary, pigeons, owls and many more) with the only group of King Penguins in England, Wales and Ireland. More than 50 aviaries, open enclosures and a Desert House and you will also see a display of fish, reptiles, amphibians and insects in the Discovery Zone There is the Penguin Café, indoor and outdoor Picnic areas, an indoor and outdoor play areas, Gift Shop and much more. There are several new aviaries and more to be built which will allow for some new species of bird to be seen in the future. We have just added another 2.5 acres to the site and have developed a nature trail area called ‘Marshmouth Nature Reserve’. The area is a maze of paths and copses with marshland and ponds and views over the Windrush River that will develop over the next few years. This will be a chance for you to immerse yourself in a small area of the Cotswold countryside where you can see many species from a dragonfly to a kingfisher. We have the support of Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and their early surveys have already acknowledged the presence of Otter and Water Vole on the site with over 60 species of bird recorded and hundreds of plant and insect species. The Discovery Zone offers a dry area to explain the Life Cycle of the Egg and the Life of Birds, seating and soft play area. We also have ‘Trigg Hall’ our new Conference/classroom/lecture theatre facility which will expand our educational facilities for schools, the visitor experience and small business conferences. For more details please contact us. The Encounter Zone is where visitors are able to get up close and personal with many animals from spiders and snakes to chinchillas and eagle owls. Many events planned each year including ‘Bird of Prey Encounters’, ’, ‘Meet a Keeper’ , Summer Trail, evening experiences like ‘Owl Night’, ‘Parrot Night’ and much more. My family is lucky, we are annual members here and visit regularly throughout the year, each time we visit appears different from previous visits, this time we were impressed with the new aviaries and the the "loop" called "Birds of Africa" which helped the flow though the park, we have watched these aviaries being built during the winter and early... A group outing of over 60's, we had a great time, as they were more than 10 of us, cost of entry was reduced to £7.50 each. Well laid out with good printed guide to assist to. The penguin were wonderful. All the caged birds appeared to have plenty of room. I loved the pink flamingos. Cafe was limited as... More

May I preface my review by saying that I don't normally agree with keeping animals or birds in captivity. However, on a wet Thursday in May, as a birder, I was intrigued to see whether Birdland was just another tourist trap or something more. Well, the entrance was dramatic with two Marabou Storks standing drying their wings along the banks... More

We really looked forward to visiting with our little granddaughter who was particularly keen to see the dinosaurs. We decided to have lunch first , all I can say is don't eat there! My burger was pre cooked and reheated it was rock hard on the outside and cold in the middle. Birdland it's self was very shabby the were... More

We brought our son here for his 3rd birthday and had a great time, there are plenty of birds to see and the dinosaur trail is lots of fun. The snakes and bearded dragons were also great to see. Our initial reason for visiting was that it is cheaper than Cotswold Wildlife Park. But we will definitely be returning. The... More

I daresay that the cages meet all legal sizes for the birds that are caged in them. Assuming that is the case then , in my opinion, the law needs changing. I was appalled to see approx 12 avocets in a very small space. I watch these birds at RSPB Leighton Moss walking in the reeds, fishing in the water.... More

I haven't visited Birdland since I was a child, and it has massively improved. There are a wide range of birds from all over the world here to visit and many I'd never even heard of. We managed to get up close to penguins and pelicans and many other birds. There is also now a reptile feature and pet encounter... More

We spent a great afternoon here. We enjoyed a picnic by the river. There was plenty to interest and occupy young children and adults alike for a few hours. The site and facilities were clean and well laid out and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. We particularly enjoyed watching the penguins being fed. We were able to use our Tesco... More

Really reasonably priced attraction, all the animals are well cared for in clean aviaries and all birds were easily seen. The penguins were amazing, funny and you can see them so well!! Claude the cockatoo was also great. 2 types of gorgeous flamingos also. Good coffee in the cafe, lovely children's play area, picnic benches & shelter. Beautiful
