This was a spur of the moment visit whilst we were passing through Rye. It was an interesting castle with some nice displays and lovely views from the roof. I liked the herb garden, even though visiting in December it is probably not at its best, but you can imagine what it would be like when in bloom. I enjoyed... More

Seriously, if I had money I wouldnt waste it on a museum that has made little to no effort to ensure the price matches the offer. Inordinately expensive, poorly presented and a lacksadaisical approach to both spelling and grammar on the boards makes the whole thing unprofessional and an embarassment to England. I was stunned and furious and felt cheated.... More

We popped in here to escape a rain shower, but were so pleased we did. Very interesting collection, and great presentation of the history of Rye. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Small but informative and the exhibits are varied with interest. Relies on donations as no admission fees charged so support this little exhibition.

The brochure promised us far more than we got out of our visit. The exhibits were poor, the view not as spectacular as we expected. The herb garden lacks ecplanations with the plants.

While staying in Rye we thought we would see the Ypres castle in Rye. It's a nice small castle with lots of things to see and nice points of history. Interesting point there is a story of a woman in gaol in the Women's tower. Well worth a look The exhibits are on three levels and a terrace to have... More

Day trip to Rye, decided to pop in to the castle. Really quaint but interesting. It was £4 for adults and children under 16 go free. I particularly liked the ladies jail in the garden. The views from the castle are lovely too. The gentleman on the desk was very friendly and explained some of the history of the castle.... More

We didn't plan to visit this small castle but it was interesting and well worth a look.It was a good place to spend an hour looking around what was once a prison and the lovely little walled garden.
