Camber Castle was closed when we got there, but then it appears to be only open on 4 days a year. If you don't like easy walking through pastureland whilst taking in the views, Saxon coastline and wild life area, then go somewhere else maybe...More

Came across this castle while exploring Rye harbour nature reserve. It's in the middle of nowhere with little or no signage. Was pleasantly surprised with the find, shame it wasn't open at the time. If unaltered ruins in wonderful countryside is your thing get your...More

We followed the public footpaths to the castle and a fairly easy walk as all on the level. It is a lovely old castle that was built for Henry V111 but it is only actually open on the first Saturday of each month in the...More

The walk across the fields to this castle takes a long time, but enjoyed looking around even if it was just the outside, as it is only open for a short time. Owned by English Heritage now it looks good inside. Hard to understand why...More

The castle is in the middle of a field a mile from the sea. it use to be 150 metre from the sea, the tour we had revealed the growth and destruction of the castle, very interesting. Henry v111 strikes again.

A decent walk from Winchelsea, but well worth seeing. The views along the coast are very clear and an excellent place to see, although not much to do.
