Wouldn't recommend The Bear to anyone. Very very rough and unfriendly atmosphere. The people it attracts are some of the most horrible you'll ever find in Brighton. Rude staff, horrendous service. Don't waste your time or money in this hell-hole of a pub. Walk another...More

We were suspicious when we read the bad recommendations about this pub but we still wanted to try it cos it looks so lovely. And we had an awesome evening! The food was amazing and very cheap! We took the chilli con carne. And the...More

Once you enter the Bear Pub in Brighton then you'll most likely encounter the most rude and arrogant Landlady ever !! You'll recognize her straight away lurking behind the bar or mixing with shabby locals in her dressing gown with black hair and black eyes...More

It is high time Punch invested some money into this place. And change the appalling staff. Only popped in for a couple of beers and was horrified by the behaviour of both the customers and staff. Never to return unless they change the manager.

I’ve been a regular for 20+ years and throughout management and staff changes this pub never disappoints. Welcoming and friendly, with the kind of staff that make you feel like family!

Well what I can I say, the people, the staff, the atmosphere is just to die for. If you're looking for a pub to really tickle your taste buds then this is the place!

This pub is very very common, the atmosphere is a little threatening and I don't think anybody with any class would want to go into this place as it feels dangerous. The glass on the windows is always condensed up from dampness and the lights...More

A group of us went to have a relaxed drink here, as it's quite close to our house we thought we'd check it out. The pub was almost empty, which we didn't mind. However the woman at the bar seemed annoyed that we'd even stepped...More

Wow I didn't realise pubs like this still exist, a depressing memory of the past. No atmosphere what so ever and a very rough crowd. The genders are split with men in the front bar and women in the back bar. To be honest I...More
