Living in Brighton I often walk through Kemp Town and regularly meet friends in one of the many independent coffee shops/restaurants there. If you get off the main through roads there are many little streets full of interesting and quirky buildings. Whilst walking along the southern side, along the main coast road you get to see all the grand Regency... More

Stayed in the area for the weekend, lots of nooks and crannies to explore, loads of places to eat, had such a fab time. Markets and unusual shops to browse round, not far to Brighton centre if you want to explore further. Loved every minute of it. Definitely somewhere to return to over and over again.

There's something about Kemptown that embodies much of the character of Brighton without being like Brighton in many ways. It doesn't have 'chain' stores of Brighton, but does have some quirky shops where you might be able to buy some! It has its own character and is reputedly the 'gay' quarter of the city which makes it so well known.... More

Kemptown is one of the districts in the city of Brighton & Hove. In the 1960s, I lived there for a while and occasionally I revisit this area. It is that part of Brighton lying to the east of the Palace Pier and the Royal Pavilion and to the west of Black Rock and Brighton Marina. It is a very... More

The slightly more edge fringe Brighton. You really need to walk the whole length of St James Street to get the real essence of Brighton life.

Kemptown has a real unique flavour to it. Stunning buildings, loads of independent cafes to get decent cake from then great to wander around a bit more. Really relaxed atmosphere around this area.

We visit Kemptown every time we are in Brighton, we love it because of the independent relaxed feel. With a lot of cafe/bars to enjoy... its a really good place to visit when you are close by.

This area of Brighton is known as the local predominately gay area. There are many pubs, bars and restaurants to enjoy. The local shops are not your normal high street shops but are fun to see. The area is a very mixed area and although considered the gay quarter by many its is very mixed with many different things to... More

This area of Brighton for the traveller on foot is quite large. However, make an effort to visit the the "flea Mkt" on Upper St James St. and wander around the area a little to soak up the VILLAGE atmosphere. Lots of small cafes,a few pubs and small shops selling a range of goods. Even better admire the buildings from... More

Kemptown is a suburb of Brighton, just up the hill from The Steine, to the west you have madeira drive and the coastal view. Lots of independent shops and cafes to meander around. The architecture in this area is worth the walk alone to enjoy the history.
