Sou-Wester keeping you off the beach? Why not spend a pleasant hour or two in this eclectic museum, wuth its diverse collection of period and modern furniture, art and Brighton memorabilia.. It's free, the displays are interesting and well presented and you can get a coffee and a cake. Far better than most provincial museums.

...they're much better! Over the years we have visited many times when our children were young, and now with our grandchildren as well as on our own. There's a lot to see, but you can just do a room or two at a time - there's always something to come back for. Some of the permanent collection often gets overlooked,... More

The Brighton Museum and Art Gallery offers an eclectic collection of historical artefacts and paintings organised thematically into a series of galleries. It is located in central Brighton within the former royal estate of the Royal Pavilion and adjacent to the Dome Concert Hall. Unfortunately, the council have introduced charges which may now deter some visitors and I was disappointed... More

Pales into insignificance when compared with he pavilion but still worth a wander around the museum. Several different themes but not particularly detailed in any of them.

Paid £5.20 each for adult admission to this museum and gallery. There are various rooms with items on display depicting the history of Brighton to the Egyptians to Art Deco furniture. There doesn't appear to be any flow or thought patterns as to the order in which exhibits appear and there is very little art work on display. Was a... More

Popped in on Sunday morning and was surprised to find that we had chosen the one day of the year that entry was free. Apparently that happens every year. Went specifically to see photography exhibition but browsed around other exhibits as well. Very impressed at what was inside and that every age of person was there enjoying every part of... More
