Visited Gold Hill as part of a 4 mile walk around Shaftesbury (walk from iFootpath). We thoroughly enjoyed Gold Hill and the entire walk which gives good exposure to the town and the area. A wonderful way to spend 2 hours and none of the...More

A super quaint cobbled street that leads you down to Castle Hill and spectacular views. Probably difficult for those to access with walking difficulties, as what goes down must come back up! Worth stopping to see if passing through Shaftesbury, take time out to sit...More

There are beautiful huge trees providing shade, a very pretty garden with benches where you can sit to soak up the sun and enjoy the absolutely stunning views over the valley. Today, we sat and listened to a very nice jazz player. The only thing...More

Shaftesbury is a very pretty town and being, so I have been told, the second highest town in England from both sides of the town there are spectacular views. Castle Hill views look down towards Devon and Sumerset.

Came here during lunch to have a wander around, nice views from the top of the hill, and there's a few walks to go around. Not exciting enough to make a special trip for unless you're already in the area

Came across this place while doing the Snowdrop Trail. Wonderful views for miles and we were so pleased to discover it. Walked back to town along a narrow street with quaint cottages either side. Shaftesbury is a delightful place to spend an afternoon..

Just up from Golds Hill is the magnificent Castle Hill which provides stunning views over the Hills and Hardy country. The panorama is breathtaking and the location excellent - next to the Abbey Gardens. Walk the pathways amble down the hill and then up Golds...More

I come across here for my morning walk. Never fails to inspire me. Beautiful view over the vale. A must place to visit if you are in Shaftesbury.
