The Totnes Market is an excellent market for fresh food (bread, veg, fruit, eggs). One of the delicious dishes I ate there was called masala dosa from a vendor named Kumar. It is a vegan/gluten free dish (rice, lentil, potato in a dosa wrap). I came to this market because I saw a video about Kumar on an animal sanctuary site. He is a lovely man, very friendly and compassionate. There are many other vendors that participate in the Totnes Market. You can find all sorts, books, material, antiques, food, etc. It's not a huge market but it's worth a trip out there. I submitted this review in 2019. I went back in and it had me submit it again. First time visit to this pleasant Market Town, to visit an old friend, but unfortunately, not on Market Day. Nevertheless this is a really pleasant place to spend a few hours, full of quirky shops, lovely eateries, and a number of buildings of interest. Best place to park is on Steamer Quay, by the lovely River Dart. Though not running at present, because of Covid , you can take what must be pleasant boat trips from here along the River, down to Dartmouth. The towns main thoroughfare is Fore St, which runs gradually uphill towards the Castle, which we never visited, but commands great views over the town. Enjoyed a pleasant lunch in a small but friendly Cafe,, had a drink in the notable Dartmouth Inn, and looked at the plethora of nice shops and interesting buildings on our way round. Really enjoyable day and well worth a visit, Market or no Market.…

Great for an amble around. The international food looks inviting and there tends to be small queues around them. The fresh breads, cheeses and fruit and veg stalks are good. Bought a footstool from the reclaimed furniture last year, and its still in good condition. The bric-a-brac at the back of the market is interesting. Dog friendly, but can be a bit crowded and busy…

Recently discovered this market and will certainly be back. It's just the right size - some of those markets which go on for miles get boring and I end up walking past a lot of interesting stuff because there is too much to look at. It's got the right mix of stalls and a great quirkiness about it. Plus of course, it is in the middle of Totnes Fore Street which is an absolute pleasure to saunter around for a couple of hours. …
