This is not as the previous reviewer rightly commented on a very realistic tourist experience... Staff only want your money and not interested in talking about the railway or the history bestowed.... Very boring tedious experience I'm afraid

We visited Babbacombe Cliff Railway, weather wise it was a cold blowy day, so not many people around. The first noticeable thing was the price, very reasonable for a return journey. I suppose you could walk down and get The carriage back up. But it...More

£2.60 return or £2 one way and the one way is best going up, walk down and use the lift to return. I found the volunteers very friendly and wanting to tell us a bit as we expressed an interest.

As others have said, this is a great way to get down and/or up from the beach. £2 one way or £2:80 return. Very cheap. Friendly staff.

Used this quirky clifftop railway to access the beach and fab 3 Degrees West cafe below - very reasonable at £2.80 return considering the steep climb back up if on foot! Beach is a mix of pebble and sand so bring beach shoes if planning...More

There are not many "Vernaculars" or cliff railways around these days. This is a fine working example and has a huge practical benefit as you do not have to walk the steep hills back up from the beach. A nice small exhibition down in the...More

Thanks for your question. Yes, the cliff railway is wheelchair friendly BUT you will need a fairly strong wheelchair attendant because the paths around it are very steep. At the top there is a small path which is sign posted... More
