A proper pub which does a great selection of real ales including Atlantic which can be hard to find in Devon. Staff friendly and you can bring your own food. Often get chips from The Harbourside and a pint and listen to the live music they have on a Sunday.

What a great little place with a welcoming staff & an open fire. A good selection of Real Ales even the locals chat to you & that seems to be a dying thing knower days. It was Cash Only when I popped in.

Went with my wife on a coach trip to Plymouth. Visited the Dolphin for a pint of real ale before embarking on a boat trip. Excellent sunny day on 1st November!

I was on holiday with 8 mate and we stopped here for a pint. I had been informed this is the best pub on the Barbican (such an historic place - with the sailing of the Mayflower from there) and when we went into the pub I saw why this was recommended. Excellent beer range, lots of seating, Good beers... More

I do love it here.....Hubby always has to happen along here when in Plymouth when I am shopping as it serves real ale and great conversation and atmosphere I just wish they sold better dry Rose wine for us girls and perhaps small bottles of Prosecco for me so I didn't have to visit WS for a decent glass of... There are not many pubs like this anymore and this one is a real jewel. Warm and down to earth. Whenever I visit I find it such a treat, in the winter months there a real log fire burning and good beer to drink, my partner swear that they serve the best Bass in the city. I cannot recommend this... More

A low key unpretentious pub in the heart of The Barbican. I gave this place an excellent score for two reasons firstly the staff were lovely, my friend who was feeling unwell asked for a hot toddy and this was done for her without issue or extra charge for the boiled water. Secondly we were able to bring fish and... More

Down to earth friendly place - full of character. Drinkers pub for people who enjoy a pint, and like to talk and sing. If you are a plastic person and like plastic places - then this establishment is not for you.

A really great pub if it wasn't spoiled by the event that we witnessed. The bar maid came out and made a fuss of a customers dog. It got excited and licked her face and hands vigorously for quite a while. She then went behind the bar and started serving again without washing her hands. So, wet dog slobber was... More

A proper pub as previous posters say. If I lived here I would use it regularly lots of Beryl Cook paintings on the wall this was her watering hole apparently!
