I think this is best enjoyed as part of a walk of the city walls. There is not much to see as it is substantially in ruins but if you walk into the gardens near you can still see the outlines of the enormous ditch...More

This Norman Castle is in poor condition compared to the magnificent well preserved one in my home town of Carrickfergus in Northern Ireland. It is still possible to get a good idea of what it was like in the past.

There is not much of this castle still standing, but it is worth a visit. There is an interpretation board and the castle is situated next to the grounds which are worth a walk through

If you want understand theconquest of England by the Normans here is a good place to start. Exter predated London as a center of commerce.
