Located below Tintagel Castle, the birthplace of King Arthur, this cave is believed to be where Merlin lived. The caves are accessible from a footpath, but fill with water at high tide.

We took the jeep ride down to the little cove. When you get there its breath taking. The steps down to the cave are very steep and it is quite tricky to get over the last few steps on to the beach. The cave goes...More

The first time we visited we were lucky to have walked down to the cave when the tide was out. Huge waves would come within feet of you, leading us to believe that we were about to get drenched, then suddenly they vanish. Super optical...More

It's a long trek up and down with steep stairs and uneven terrain. So best to wear proper footwear. Definitely not sandals and heeled shoes. A lovely site and place to explore. Some kids had a ball of a time inside the cave looking around....More

My partner went down to the cave which was a tricky walk, but the little beach is nice, and with a bit of imagination you could see merlin!! But it is just a cave, although at high tide it makes the bay more exciting

Cave and beach under Tintagel Island. Free of charge, quite a few steps and a bit of climbing, well worth a visit on a nice day.

There are quite a few steps down and the last few are very difficult because the steps were damaged and I had to chamber over slippy stones. The cave itself is quite large and the rock formations are quite interesting.

Great place to watch seals at high tide. Great caves and rock pools at low tide. Well worth a look at the castle too.

It's a decent size for a cave and well worth the visit. Best to go in off season
Why were people lighting candles and hugging the cave walls
