About
This short 0.6 mile walk on the South West Coast Path has great views across St Ives Bay, and out to the lighthouse on Godrevy Island just off shore. Children will love the long beach, as well as the island and the lighthouse and the tales of shipwrecks. A good walk in spring, when the coastal grasslands are full of wildflowers and fulmars nest noisily in the cliffs.

Very excited that we saw seals at Godrevy Head last week! Remember your binoculars (we forgot ours) but they were still visible when you looked closely and saw they shuffling a bit. Truly lovely sight!

It's a National Trust car park, so we got free parking with membership, then it was only a 5 min walk up a slope to overlook Mutton Cove to watch the seals. We strolled round towards the lighthouse and then went to play on the beach for the afternoon. The tide came in pretty quickly on the flat beach, and the waves were great for body boarding.

Compared to many parts of the SW coastal path, this is an easy stroll with wide level walkways. There is an incline up a grassy slope but doable for pushchairs and those who might find other parts impossible.

There is a rocky path close to the cliff edge but it doesn't lend any greater views than sticking to the one higher up.

A great view of the coves and lighthouse. Stop at Mutton Cove for a view of the seals (not guaranteed!).

The small National Trust car park at Godrevy was open at 9.00 but the large one and toilets did not open until after 10.00. In high season or weekends go really early or late. It can be crowded, as can the coast path.

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Godrevy. The weather was ideal, and the seals were romping about! Gorgeous scenery. Wonderful photo opportunities.

The £6 parking ticket is great for whole day parking, less so if you arrive at 4:30 PM.

Albeit very windy when we did the walk it has amazing views and looking at the seals is superb...the kids loved this. If you walk to hells kitchen from the national trust car park there are friendly facilities both ends.

A stunning place to visit. It was recommended to us, to see the seals from the cliff tops. We drove and parked at Godrevy, massive car park in the field at the top overlooking the stunning beaches. Walked up the hill opposite the light house and saw lots of seals jumping around in the sea. Nice stroll round and you can either sit by your car admiring the views or walk across the beach.

A beautiful place to visit, the view are wonderful, the beach’s are stunningly clean, on the day we visited it was a dry windy day, the beach’s were almost deserted, but I would imagine that wouldn’t be the case come summer.

In the wake of storm Ciara in Feb we parked up and headed out. It's wild on this walk. Lots of dog walkers out and about too. Pay in the car park or if national trust member it's free

We wanted to have a walk along the coastal path to view Godrevy Head. We drove up to a car park which was run by the national trust and thought it was very expensive for the amount of time we’d be staying. If you are planning to stay the whole day then you might find the price reasonable. We drove back down the road and there was a pay & display car park attached to a bar/restaurant so we decided to use that. We have a pushchair, and whilst the path wasn’t really designed for pushchairs, we didn’t have to much trouble and only had to carry it in small sections. The view over to the lighthouse was lovely and you could see right around the bay. There are lots of grassed areas on the cliff top in front of the lighthouse and so we stopped for a while and sat on our picnic blanket in the sun.
