Beautiful work, but confusing, unintuitive building with small galleries - underwhelming!

Tate St Ives will be closed until Friday 31st March 2017. The refurbishment of the existing Tate St Ives building has proved more complex than anticipated. After careful consideration we have decided to continue the building work through the year and we will reopen the refurbished Tate St Ives in March 2017. We will continue work on the new galleries and building over the summer 2017. The fully completed new Tate St Ives, encompassing the existing building and the extension, will open in autumn 2017. The planned exhibition season for summer 2016, The Studio and The Sea will open to the public on Friday 31 March 2017.

Disappointed, what a waste of £60 to get the family in, but glad we made the 600 mile round trip as my local junior school has better art content on the walls and shelves, I am now changing my will not to leave my Hepworth...More

I was really looking forward to visiting Tate St Ives, but, all in all, I was disappointed. I found the building very confusing, the route through wasn't particularly intuitive, so it was difficult to work out which galleries we had already seen. Display space is...More

I usually enjoy waking around galleries and museums but I felt £15 for two adults was a big ask for what was in, what is an amazing building . Staff were helpful and friendly but there is simply not much in the building to look...More

Tate modern and Tate Britain is free except for exhibitions so was a little surprised that Tate st Ives charges an entrance fee. The gallery itself is pretty small and the contents I did not find very interesting but that might be personal choice the...More

I am rarely swayed by poor reviews on TA when it comes to modern art - mainly because I know art is very subjective and not everyone appreciates modern art and so with relative who was a well known artist and took much inspiration from...More

We visited with our four year old. He loved the spot the artwork trail and the guides were very helpful. It is obvious that the gallery is having an extension but at the moment it does not take long to view the artwork at all....More

I'd been really looking forward to visiting this gallery, but, apart from the Bernard Leach pottery and a couple of other items, I was very disappointed in what was on display. The displays change every 3 months or so, I'm told, so we may just...More

Loved our visit there and the Jessica Warboys exhibition. Thanks to the staff for how they engaged the kids in such a friendly way, helping them with the competition where they needed to find works of art. Fantastic shop too
