The building first caught my eye. It has an interesting clock tower and then we went to the gallery itself. I was very absorbed by the current exhibition a collection based around entertainment as art which was balanced by the work of a local artist....More

What a gem of a gallery situated on the first floor above the library. Due to the hilly location a side entrance gives level access to the gallery. The current exhibitions were excellent. The first room having a look at fun fairs and seaside attractions...More

Great exhibitions. Well worth seeing. They need a bit more space and a cafe. Good shop and loo. Lift also for those who can't manage the stairs.

It's not a huge gallery, but bare in mind entry is free. They get some amazing pieces in and always have something set up for the kids. So even if they're not quite old enough to enjoy the artwork, they are welcome to play and...More

A great art gallery with regularly changing exhibitions. Child friendly with helpful staff. Exhibitions are often unusual ie cartoons or automata. Has a great collection of maritime and local art. Great if you are not an art 'expert'.

The gallery had a strong emphasis on maritime subjects, scenes and people. It was well laid out and informative with some excellent pictures by well-known artists. It's small enough to enable one to look thoroughly at all the exhibits without fatigue.
